Job Description
About NET Recovery
NET Recovery is a high-growth medtech startup focused on developing drug-free treatments for substance use disorders. Our FDA-cleared NET Device™ is changing how patients and providers approach opioid withdrawal management.
The NET Device is just the start. We’re building a clinical platform around it: a growing portfolio of hardware and software products for the clinicians who deliver care and the patients working toward recovery. Our ambition is to redefine what addiction treatment looks like, and what technology can do for recovery. It’s a chance to help define a new category in healthcare and build the products that bring drug-free recovery into the mainstream.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced designer for a 4 month engagement who can turn complex clinical and health workflows into clear, usable experiences across mobile and desktop, and who balances moving quickly with the details that matter in regulated healthcare products. This engagement involves close collaboration with our product managers, engineers, clinicians, and commercial and regulatory/quality partners to design software that clients and clinicians rely on.
Engagement Details
- Term: 4 months, with defined deliverables and an end date.
- Schedule: Approximately full-time commitment. You set your own schedule, with overlap for agreed working sessions and reviews.
- Location and tools: Remote. You use your own equipment and design tools, except for systems access required for the project.
- Compensation: Hourly rate, invoiced monthly. No benefits are provided.
What You’ll Do
DESIGN
- Deliver end-to-end design for our clinical software across desktop and mobile: user flows, wireframes, interaction design, visual design, and high-fidelity prototypes.
- Take broad, conceptual ideas and distill complex clinical and health workflows into simple, usable interfaces for patients, clinicians, and clients.
- Plan and conduct usability testing and user research, synthesize feedback from patients, clinicians, and internal stakeholders, and integrate findings into the final design deliverables.
COLLABORATE
- Partner with Product Management, Engineering, Clinical, and Commercial stakeholders from concept through launch to define requirements, explore solutions, and deliver high-quality, production-ready designs.
- Present deliverables to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders at agreed review checkpoints, clearly communicating goals, tradeoffs, and rationale, and provide design recommendations to inform prioritization.
- Participate in scheduled design reviews for project deliverables.
IMPROVE
- Deliver design system components and documentation for our clinical software so experiences stay consistent across platforms, ready for handoff to the internal team.
Who You Are
- 5+ years of UX design experience on complex software products, with a focus on interaction, user experience, and visual design.
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience designing for both mobile (iOS and/or Android) and desktop or web applications, including platform conventions and responsive layouts.
- Proficiency in Figma and in building prototypes at multiple fidelity levels that effectively communicate design concepts.
- Experience planning and conducting usability testing and incorporating findings from varied stakeholders into design decisions.
- Demonstrated, ongoing comfort with AI tools in your own workflow (e.g., research synthesis, ideation, prototyping, or generating design variations), with concrete examples of how they changed how you work.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills; able to present work clearly to executive and cross-functional audiences.
- A portfolio demonstrating shipped work and your design process (please include a viewable link or access instructions with your application).
PREFERRED
- Experience designing software as a medical device (SaMD) or software used in clinical settings.
- Experience designing for health, wellness, or clinical applications.
- Exposure to regulated industries and quality management systems.
- Experience building or maintaining a design system across multiple platforms.
- Experience shaping user research studies and integrating insights into UX strategy.
