Maximo Lead Developer / Integration Specialist

Compensation: $70–$80/hour, based on experience

About the Role

Our leading federal integrator partner is seeking an experienced IBM Maximo Lead Developer to support a large-scale enterprise modernization initiative involving the implementation of IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS) 9 on AWS .

This position will focus heavily on the design, development, implementation, and troubleshooting of integrations between Maximo and external enterprise systems . The program supports a nationwide federal organization with thousands of locations, requiring scalable and reliable integrations to support asset management, work management, inventory, procurement, and other business processes.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Maximo integration developer with extensive experience using the Maximo Integration Framework (MIF), Java/Jython automation scripts, REST/SOAP APIs, and enterprise messaging technologies .

While this is a lead-level position, the primary responsibility is hands-on technical development rather than solely architecture, project management, or team oversight.

The selected individual will own the Maximo-side development of inbound and outbound integrations , working closely with middleware, cloud infrastructure, and functional teams to ensure data flows accurately and efficiently between systems.

We are looking for someone who can independently design and build integrations, write and modify custom code, troubleshoot complex integration failures, and support the transition to MAS 9.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and implement inbound and outbound integrations between IBM Maximo and external enterprise applications using the Maximo Integration Framework (MIF).
• Configure and develop MIF components, including Object Structures, Enterprise Services, Publish Channels, External Systems, Endpoints, and Integration Processing Rules .
• Develop and maintain REST and SOAP web service integrations , supporting real-time and asynchronous data exchange between Maximo and external systems.
• Write, modify, and troubleshoot Java customizations, user exits, processing classes, and Python/Jython automation scripts to support integration logic, data transformations, validations, and business requirements.
• Develop integrations using JMS messaging, XML, JSON, and other enterprise integration technologies as required.
• Own the Maximo-side integration development while collaborating with middleware and AWS teams responsible for external data processing and system connectivity.
• Troubleshoot integration failures by analyzing MIF message queues, error logs, API responses, data mappings, and processing exceptions .
• Configure and support data transformations, field mappings, validation rules, and error-handling processes to ensure accurate data exchange.
• Support the implementation and ongoing development of IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS) 9 , including adapting existing integrations and customizations for the updated platform.
• Collaborate with technical architects, business analysts, and external integration teams to translate functional requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Perform unit testing, integration testing, debugging, and production support to ensure reliable integration performance.
• Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, and development best practices while remaining actively involved in hands-on coding.
• Document integration architecture, technical specifications, data flows, and troubleshooting procedures.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on IBM Maximo development experience , with a strong emphasis on enterprise integrations.
• Extensive experience developing integrations using the Maximo Integration Framework (MIF) .
• Hands-on experience configuring and developing Object Structures, Enterprise Services, Publish Channels, External Systems, and Endpoints .
• Proven experience independently developing inbound and outbound integrations between Maximo and external enterprise systems.
• Strong experience with REST and/or SOAP web services , including API development, integration configuration, data mapping, and troubleshooting.
