Technical SEO Developer

Akkodis is seeking a Technical SEO Developer for a 3 Month contract role with a client located in California (Remote).

Pay Range: $60- $70/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Technical SEO Developer to improve the performance, search visibility, and overall technical health of the company website. The team has a strong understanding of the improvements needed and is looking for an experienced contractor who can take ownership of prioritizing and directly implementing technical SEO improvements, rather than simply providing recommendations or handing requirements off to a development team. This is a developer-oriented role that requires strong technical SEO expertise and practical experience working with JavaScript-based websites. The ideal candidate can independently identify technical issues, determine the highest-impact opportunities, and execute the necessary changes directly in the website’s code and CMS, collaborating with internal stakeholders and developers as needed. The primary focus is technical SEO implementation, including improving visibility in traditional search engines and AI-driven search experiences. Content creation is outside the primary scope of this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct a comprehensive technical SEO audit of the website to identify issues and opportunities.
• Evaluate findings, prioritize initiatives based on impact and effort, and establish a clear implementation plan.
• Own and execute technical SEO improvements directly across existing web pages and website infrastructure.
• Work hands-on with JavaScript-based websites to identify and resolve rendering, indexing, crawlability, and other technical SEO issues.
• Implement and optimize structured data and schema markup.
• Review and update XML sitemaps, robots.txt, canonical tags, metadata, and other technical SEO elements as needed.
• Identify and resolve website quality, performance, Core Web Vitals, and page-speed issues.
• Improve the website’s visibility and discoverability across traditional search engines and AI-driven search experiences.
• Work closely with the India-based development team to coordinate implementation, resolve technical dependencies, and validate changes.
• Collaborate directly with Manager and other internal stakeholders to align priorities, communicate progress, and deliver results.
• Provide technical SEO expertise and guidance when needed, while remaining accountable for hands-on execution and implementation.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Approximately 2–5 years of SEO experience, with strong technical SEO capabilities.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience working with JavaScript-based websites is essential.
• Candidates must be comfortable diagnosing and implementing technical SEO fixes on JavaScript-driven sites.
• Proven ability to independently implement technical website changes, rather than exclusively providing recommendations or project-managing implementation by others.
• Experience with a CMS, ideally Contentful, and the ability to make or coordinate changes directly within the website’s technical environment.
• Strong understanding of technical SEO fundamentals, including crawling, indexing, rendering, structured data, site architecture, and website performance.
• Experience with B2B SaaS websites is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with the following tools:
• Google Search Console
• Google Analytics / GA4
• Semrush
• Ahrefs
• Screaming Frog
• Profound
• Ability to work independently, prioritize technical improvements, and deliver measurable results within a defined contract period.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working across US- and India-based teams.
