Job Description
About Fortify Fortify is a fast-growing startup based in Cambridge. We build AML and fraud detection software for banks, payment processors and remittance companies. The people who read what we make are compliance officers, fraud teams and operations leads, who spend their days working alerts, writing rules and preparing for regulators.
Our buyers are specialists. They notice when something has been made with care, and they notice when it hasn’t. We want everything we put in front of them to feel calm, clear and credible. It’s a busy market, and we need a designer who can help us stand out in it: someone who pays attention to the small details and knows how to build a clear visual identity.
The role We’re looking for a freelance designer to own Fortify’s visual output across marketing, sales and the website, for around 8 days a month. The workload will vary, so some months will need a little more and some a little less.
You’d work most closely with our marketing lead, who manages the request queue, briefs and day-to-day sign-off. Julia, our co-founder and CCO, sets the brand direction and reviews brand-level work. Our Webflow developer builds the website pages you design.
The first months are about shipping: getting good work out steadily and building the templates that make the next piece faster. Over time, we’d like you to help evolve the brand itself, using what you learn from the day-to-day work. As we grow, there’s potential for the role to become permanent for the right person.
What You’ll Work On Marketing and social LinkedIn carousels and post graphics for the company and founder accounts, campaign visuals for white papers and webinars, paid social ads
Sales collateral One-pagers, case studies, event leave-behinds, sales and proposal decks
Website Page layouts and graphics designed in Figma, blog and landing page visuals, handed over to our developer to build in Webflow
Brand Reusable templates in Figma and PowerPoint for the team, and later, refinements to the brand system
Your first three months
- Get to know the current brand, the website and our audience, and pick up live requests from week one.
- Deliver a steady flow of LinkedIn and campaign assets, roughly weekly.
- Build a small template kit (social posts, carousels, one-pager, deck) so recurring work gets quicker and stays consistent.
- Design at least one sales asset end to end, such as a case study or event leave-behind.
- Share what you’ve noticed about where the brand falls short, as the starting point for evolving it.
Who We’re Looking For
- You have strong craft and a portfolio that shows it. You’re happy turning round a LinkedIn carousel one day and thinking about a brand system the next.
- Several years of freelance or agency work across marketing, collateral and web design
- Confident in Figma, and able to produce polished PowerPoint decks
- Comfortable designing web pages for a developer to build, with clear handover files
- Good at turning a rough brief into something clear, and asking the right questions when the brief is thin
- Reliable on deadlines, and organised enough to plan your time around a varying workload
- Taste that leans editorial: restraint, white space, quiet hierarchy
- Experience with B2B, fintech or other technical audiences is a plus, but not essential. We’ll bring the domain knowledge.
Practical details Engagement: Freelance, with potential to become permanent
Time: Around 8 days a month, flexing with the workload
Location: Remote, available UK hours
Rate: Day rate, quoted by you
Start: Mid to late November 2026
How To Apply Apply through this job listing or on our website, wearefortify.ai, with:
- A link to your portfolio
- Two or three pieces closest to the work above, with a line on your part in each
- Your day rate and your availability from the start date
We’ll invite a shortlist to a short call, then ask them to complete a small paid test brief, such as a LinkedIn carousel from our copy. We’ll make a decision from that.
