Senior Java Developer

Razor is seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to support enterprise application development, system architecture, and CI/CD automation for a federal IT program supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Java, Java EE, Spring, REST/SOAP web services, Oracle databases, and modern DevOps practices , including Jenkins, GitHub, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

This position requires a developer who can independently design, develop, troubleshoot, and maintain complex enterprise applications while collaborating with technical teams in an Agile development environment.

Clearance Requirements

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a VA background investigation clearance .

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise applications using Java, Java EE, and Spring .
• Develop and integrate REST and SOAP web services to support application functionality and system interoperability.
• Work with Oracle relational databases, SQL, and JPA/Hibernate to support application data management.
• Build, maintain, and troubleshoot Jenkins CI/CD pipelines to automate software delivery.
• Utilize GitHub for source control, branching, pull requests, and collaborative development.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions to automate infrastructure provisioning and database-related tasks.
• Analyze system architecture and technical requirements to develop scalable and maintainable software solutions.
• Troubleshoot application defects, investigate production issues, and implement corrective solutions.
• Evaluate technical design approaches and communicate architectural decisions, risks, and benefits.
• Participate in Agile development activities, code reviews, testing, and software deployments.
• Collaborate with developers, technical leads, and other stakeholders to support application enhancements and ongoing operations.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience , including enterprise application design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Strong hands-on experience developing enterprise applications using Java, Java EE, object-oriented programming, and Spring .
• Experience designing, developing, and integrating REST and SOAP APIs .
• Experience working with Oracle relational databases, SQL, and JPA/Hibernate .
• Knowledge of system architecture, software design principles, and application development life cycles.
• Experience working within Agile software development environments .
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Jenkins , including building, maintaining, or troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with GitHub , including source control, branching, pull requests, and code collaboration.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) , including infrastructure provisioning or database task automation.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to independently develop and troubleshoot code, explain technical design decisions, and demonstrate direct contributions to software development and automation initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with WebLogic application servers .
• Experience with AngularJS or jQuery .
• Experience using Ansible and/or Terraform .
• Familiarity with React and Python .
• Experience with Jira and Confluence .
• Previous experience supporting federal government or VA programs .
