Job Description
YouTube Thumbnail Designer – Viral Challenge & Entertainment Videos
Company: Black Vault Media
Job Type: Freelance / Contract
Location: Remote
About the Role
BlackVault Media is looking for a creative and skilled YouTube Thumbnail Designer to create attention-grabbing thumbnails for challenge, comedy, and entertainment videos.
We’re looking for someone who understands what makes people click on YouTube videos and can turn an idea or video scene into a compelling thumbnail. Our creative direction is inspired by channels like MrBeast, Ben Azelart, and Stokes Twins.
Responsibilities
- Design high-quality, eye-catching thumbnails for YouTube videos.
- Create bold compositions using strong visuals, facial expressions, colors, and photo manipulation.
- Turn video concepts into clear, compelling visuals that spark curiosity.
- Edit and combine images, remove backgrounds, and create realistic or exaggerated scenes when needed.
- Study successful YouTube thumbnails and identify trends that could work for our content.
- Develop multiple thumbnail concepts or variations when requested.
- Make revisions based on feedback and maintain consistent quality.
- Deliver finished thumbnails on schedule.
Requirements
- Proven experience designing YouTube thumbnails, preferably for challenge, comedy, or entertainment channels.
- Strong skills in Adobe Photoshop or similar professional image-editing software.
- Excellent understanding of composition, lighting, color, contrast, and visual storytelling.
- Ability to create realistic photo manipulations and make subjects stand out.
- Understanding of YouTube trends, audience behavior, and click-through rate (CTR).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- A portfolio showcasing previous YouTube thumbnails is required.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who can do more than make a thumbnail look good. You should understand how to communicate a video’s main idea in one image, create curiosity, and make the thumbnail stand out even on a small mobile screen.
You should also be comfortable studying successful creators, bringing new ideas to the table, and improving designs based on feedback and performance.
How to Apply
Please submit your resume and portfolio showcasing your best YouTube thumbnails.
Applications without a portfolio or thumbnail samples may not be considered.
