About Orca
At Orca Business Support, we provide professional call-answering and customer support services to over 1,000 businesses across the UK.
From estate agents and legal practices to housing associations and facilities management companies, we’re the friendly, reliable voice at the end of the phone when our clients need us most.
We’re looking for friendly, reliable people to join our team and help us deliver excellent customer service during our busy weekend periods.
The Role
As a Weekend Customer Service Advisor, you’ll handle incoming calls on behalf of a wide range of UK businesses, all from the comfort of your own home.
No two calls are quite the same. One minute you might be taking a message for a business, the next you could be helping a housing association tenant report an emergency repair.
You’ll need to be calm under pressure, confident communicating with people and comfortable following processes to ensure every caller receives the right support.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer incoming calls professionally and efficiently on behalf of our clients.
- Provide a friendly, helpful and reassuring service to every caller.
- Handle out-of-hours emergency maintenance calls, following established procedures.
- Accurately record messages, customer information and call details.
- Escalate urgent issues to the appropriate contacts or contractors.
- Work across multiple client accounts, following individual instructions.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, professionalism and customer service.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and management to deliver a reliable service.
What We’re Looking For
We’re more interested in your attitude and reliability than an impressive CV.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- A friendly, professional telephone manner.
- Confidence using computers and learning new systems.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions.
- The ability to remain calm when dealing with challenging situations.
- A dependable approach to work and excellent timekeeping.
- Previous customer service or contact centre experience would be beneficial, but isn’t essential.
Full training will be provided.
Working From Home – Equipment Requirements
As this is a fully remote position, applicants must have access to their own suitable equipment.
You will need:
- Your own Windows laptop or desktop PC. Please note that notebooks and Apple MacBooks are not compatible with our systems.
- Your own headset suitable for handling telephone calls.
- A reliable broadband connection.
- A quiet, dedicated workspace where you can take calls without background noise or distractions.
- The ability to work independently while remaining connected with your team.
Please ensure you meet these requirements before applying, as they are essential for the role.
Working Hours & Training
This is a part-time position, working 15 hours per week across Saturdays and/or Sundays.
Specific working patterns will be discussed during the recruitment process.
Please note: Successful applicants may be required to complete training during core business hours (Monday to Friday). Applicants should therefore have some flexibility to attend training outside their normal weekend working hours.
All required training will be paid.
The role could be ideal for someone looking to supplement their existing income, a student or anyone seeking regular weekend employment.
What We Offer
- 100% remote working – no daily commute.
- A friendly, supportive team.
- Comprehensive training and ongoing support.
- Experience working with a wide variety of businesses and industries.
- A six-month fixed-term contract with the potential to become permanent.
- Opportunities for additional hours, subject to business requirements.
- Statutory holiday entitlement and pension provision, subject to eligibility.
