Package: Base (DOE) + uncapped commission on completions
Reports to: Head of Sales / Director
Originate bridging deals for a direct, principal lender in Mayfair.
Berkeley Credit is a direct, principal bridging lender based in Mayfair. We lend capital, from £50,000 to £25,000,000, against residential, commercial and mixed-use property across England and Wales, for business and investment purposes. Rates start from 0.79% per month, with terms of 3 to 24 months, first or second charge, up to 70% LTV on residential and 65% on commercial and mixed-use.
Because we make our own lending decisions, we give brokers a same-day decision in principle. The terms we quote on day one are the terms that complete. We welcome complex cases, including offshore and expat borrowers, company, trust and partnership structures, and cases declined elsewhere.
We’re growing, and we’re looking for a Business Development Manager to bring in new lending and build lasting broker relationships.
The Role
You’ll originate new bridging business directly. That means building your own pipeline of brokers, introducers and borrowers, qualifying enquiries, and working with our underwriting team to take deals from first contact through to completion. You’ll be selling a product that delivers what it promises, with direct access to the people who make the decisions.
What you’ll do
• Originate new bridging loan enquiries and deliver against monthly and quarterly completion targets
• Build and manage a network of brokers, packagers and introducers, with a focus on London and the South East
• Present our products clearly and competitively: residential, commercial and mixed-use bridging, auction finance, refurbishment finance, second-charge bridging and re-bridging
• Qualify and structure enquiries (loan amount, LTV, security, exit strategy, borrower structure) before handing over to underwriting
• Stay close to live cases with underwriters, valuers and solicitors so deals complete on time
• Keep track of competitor pricing, broker sentiment and new opportunities, and feed what you learn back to the team
• Represent Berkeley Credit at industry events, broker visits and networking functions
• Keep accurate pipeline and activity records in our CRM
About you
• 2–4 years bridge loan sales experience is essential
• Direct bridging loan origination experience - you will have personally originated bridging deals, not just sold into the sector
• A working knowledge of LTV, valuations, exit strategies and short-term secured lending
• A track record of hitting or exceeding origination or sales targets
• An existing network of brokers or introducers, even an early-stage one, is a strong advantage
• Confident, personable and persuasive, with excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Self-motivated and comfortable working autonomously in a small, fast-moving lender
• A full UK driving licence is desirable
What we offer
• base salary, depending on experience
• Uncapped commission on completed loans, rising as your pipeline matures
• Pension and private healthcare after probation
• 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
• A real progression path in a growing lender, where your contribution is visible
• Offices at 27 Hill Street, Mayfair, W1J
