About the Opportunity:

The SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER, DEVELOPER EXPERIENCE role is critical in enhancing the efficiency of engineering teams by improving the tools, codebase, and workflows developers rely on. This position focuses on maintaining and evolving large monorepos by driving framework and language migrations, managing dependencies, and refining build and test infrastructure. The role also involves developing agentic workflows that integrate AI agents safely into the engineering process. The impact of this role is significant, as improvements directly affect the productivity and effectiveness of the entire engineering organization.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and implement large-scale codebase changes, including framework upgrades, language migrations, and dependency updates, ensuring minimal disruption
• Design and develop agentic loops to enable AI agents to perform engineering tasks safely and reliably
• Identify and resolve developer workflow issues such as slow builds, unstable tests, and unclear abstractions
• Enhance build tools and continuous integration performance, working with Bazel or similar build systems
• Create guardrails, tests, and automation to secure the integration of large automated changes
• Collaborate with product engineering teams to identify pain points and evaluate the impact of improvements
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship on migration strategies, tooling, and codebase health

Requirements:

• Significant experience with large, complex codebases (typically 7+ years for senior roles)
• Expertise in application or platform frameworks, including experience upgrading and evolving them
• Proven leadership in migrations or large refactors from planning to deployment
• Ability to quickly understand unfamiliar code and make well-informed changes across multiple teams
• Strong understanding of agentic loops and commitment to evolving them as the field develops
• Effective communication skills and ability to build trust with teams impacted by code changes

Nice to have:

• Experience with Bazel or similar build systems (Buck, Pants, Nx, Gradle)
• Experience with codemods, AST-based tooling, or large-scale automated refactoring
• Background in CI/CD, test infrastructure, or developer productivity metrics
• Experience integrating LLM-based coding tools into engineering workflows
• Contributions to open source projects related to build tools, frameworks, or developer tooling

Pay Range and Compensation Package:

• Zone A: $217,800—$326,800 USD
• Zone B: $207,000—$310,400 USD
• Zone C: $196,100—$294,100 USD
• Zone D: $185,200—$277,800 USD
