Children's Story Writer

Overview

Create engaging, age-appropriate stories that invite young readers to explore new ideas and connect with memorable characters. As a Children’s Story Writer, you’ll develop original content, revise drafts, and collaborate with editors to ensure each story meets its audience and editorial guidelines.

Duties

• Write and revise stories, proposals, and related content for children.
• Research story topics and conduct fact checking to support accuracy and age-appropriate detail.
• Proofread and edit drafts for clarity, grammar, consistency, and alignment with editorial guidelines.
• Apply relevant style references, including AP style and the Chicago Manual of Style, as directed.
• Coordinate editorial projects, manage content in content management systems, and communicate clearly with collaborators.

Experience

• Strong English, writing, storytelling, creative writing, and content writing skills; copywriting or journalism experience is useful.
• Experience with editing, copy editing, proofreading, research, and fact checking is preferred.
• Familiarity with editorial project management, content management systems, and word processing tools is an asset.
• Ability to follow editorial guidelines and adapt technical writing or proposal writing skills to a young audience is valued.

Pay: $50,900.00 - $61,400.00 per year
