Job Description
About The Company FellAkte is a digital health record for dogs and cats. Our platform helps pet owners organize health information, documents, appointments, and other important details about their animals in one clear, accessible place. We are continually developing FellAkte to make managing a pet’s health information simpler and more useful. As our product evolves, we are focused on improving the experience across our mobile app and web applications, creating interfaces that help users find information and complete tasks with confidence.
About The Role We are looking for a UI/UX Designer to translate product requirements into thoughtful user experiences and polished digital interfaces. This is a dedicated design role: you will develop concepts, user flows, prototypes, and designs in Figma, while our internal team handles technical implementation and programming. You will work closely with the founder and development team, contributing to an available product used by real customers. The role is remote-friendly and offered on a freelance, project-based basis, with the potential for continued collaboration.
Qualifications You have experience designing digital products, ideally mobile apps or SaaS platforms, and can share a portfolio that demonstrates your process, design decisions, and individual contributions. You are highly proficient in Figma, including components, Auto Layout, prototyping, and design systems. You understand usability, information architecture, user guidance, and visual hierarchy, and can apply those principles to create modern, consistent, and accessible interfaces.
You are comfortable structuring requirements independently, exploring different design approaches, and explaining the reasoning behind your recommendations. You work carefully and reliably, welcome constructive feedback, and communicate effectively with a small product and development team. You can prepare organized Figma files that clearly document components, interaction states, and design specifications for implementation. This position does not require programming or front-end development skills.
Responsibilities Conceptualize and design new features for the FellAkte mobile app and web applications, from early exploration through implementation-ready interface designs. Create wireframes, user flows, interactive prototypes, and detailed UI designs that help the team evaluate and refine product ideas. Review existing screens and user journeys, identify usability challenges and opportunities, and recommend improvements that make the product easier to understand and use.
Design responsive interfaces for different screen sizes and devices, maintaining clarity and consistency across the experience. Build and maintain reusable components, and contribute to the development of FellAkte’s design system. Collaborate directly with the founder and developers to ensure designs are realistic, technically feasible, and aligned with product priorities. Deliver structured Figma files with well-organized components, clearly represented states, and practical design guidance to support an efficient handoff.
Benefits Work flexibly from anywhere, with a fully remote freelance arrangement. Collaborate directly with the founder and development team through clear communication and short decision-making paths, without unnecessary layers of coordination. Help shape an established digital product with real users and visible opportunities to improve the experience. Focus your work on design and user experience, with a clear separation from programming responsibilities. Compensation is project-based and will be discussed and agreed in advance. There may also be an opportunity to build a longer-term working relationship when projects and mutual interests align.
Equal Opportunity
FellAkte welcomes applicants with a range of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We are committed to a respectful and inclusive working relationship and evaluate candidates based on relevant skills, experience, portfolio, and fit for the role. We encourage qualified designers who are interested in improving digital experiences for pet owners to apply.
