Job Description
• $20–$60 per hour
• 100% remote
• Part-time
• Fully flexible schedule
Work at the frontier of AI maritime decision-making, on your own schedule, and get paid for the survey expertise you already have.
The AI systems everyone is talking about are trained and tested by real marine surveyors. The teams building them need professionals who can review cargo images, documents, measurements and reports, judge whether an AI decision is sound, write the findings a surveyor would give, and explain where the reasoning falls short. Your judgment helps AI handle specialized maritime evidence and decisions more accurately. This is that work, done remotely, around your current job.
What you’ll do
• Examine photographs and records showing container and cargo condition at transfer and handover points
• Use draft marks, tank gauges and hydrometers to determine cargo quantity and integrity
• Write concise marine survey reports, setting out the findings and the basis for each decision
• Evaluate the data used to train AI alongside maritime decisions using accepted international standards for marine surveying, then provide clear technical feedback
Why this is worth your time
• Get paid $20–$60 an hour to build real AI skills, on top of your current job
• Work directly with frontier AI tools and see how they are built, tested and improved, experience most marine surveyors will not have for years
• Build a career edge for what comes next: AI is reshaping marine surveying, and the surveyors who understand it from the inside will lead that change
• Fully remote and flexible, no fixed shifts, no commute
Who this is for
• At least seven years conducting draft surveys and marine cargo surveys
• Practical experience using draft marks, tank gauges and hydrometers to calculate cargo quantity; proficiency in surveying containers and cargo condition, plus professional report writing
• A maritime academy credential that is recognized, or a valid Certificate of Competency; professional fluency in English; strong written and verbal communication skills
• No AI experience needed. You bring the expertise; we bring the training on the tools.
Pay and details
• $20–$60 per hour, paid hourly as an independent contractor
• Fully flexible schedule; fully remote, United States
