Job Description
Our client is looking for a Agentic Automation Senior Consultant to join their team!
This is a remote/full-time/6-month contract position
Third Party Candidates will not be considered.
Hourly based on experience: $70-$80/hr
IMPACT OF THIS TECHNICAL ROLE:
This Senior Consultant will lead the first phase of a broader AI initiative at a large U.S. financial institution: an internally packaged, AI-driven toolkit that lets the customer’s teams design and deliver Itential automation workflows using agentic AI. Building on Itential’s open-source Builder Skills framework, a spec-driven delivery model in which AI agents carry automation from requirements through design, build, test, and as-built documentation, you will turn a stakeholder-built proof of concept into a production-quality, well-documented package that release engineers and developers can download and use.
This is an independent, hands-on leadership role. You will own the technical direction and delivery of the package with oversight from a manager and access to our client and customer staff as needed. This is the first phase of a larger AI program, with potential for follow-on work.
A DAY IN THE LIFE:
- Understand existing customer requirements and come up with a design for implementing production quality solutions aligned with the Builder Skills framework and its customization model
- Design and build custom skills, organization- and team-level skill customizations, helper scripts, and spec templates that encode the customer’s standards, naming conventions, security policies, and change processes
- Incorporate the customer’s existing requirements and completed automation work into a single, cohesive packaged solution
- Expand use-case coverage by identifying, prioritizing, and building new skills and specs with customer teams
- Package, version, and distribute the solution entirely within the customer’s internal systems, including a repeatable process for incorporating upstream Builder Skills updates
- Ensure skills work effectively with the customer’s approved AI tools
- Build evaluations and test approaches that validate skills produce correct, consistent Itential workflows and assets
- Lead discovery sessions with stakeholders, release engineers, and developers to gather requirements and feedback
- Present regular demos to stakeholders and leadership, and incorporate feedback into iterative releases
- Produce clear documentation and training materials, run hands-on enablement sessions, and execute a clean handoff to customer teams
- Track progress, identify risks and blockers, and communicate status to our client and customer leadership
- Work within strict security and data-handling controls, including virtual desktop–only access
WHAT YOU BRING:
- Strong independence and ownership, with the ability to lead a project end to end with minimal direction
- Ability to deliver a clear plan and production-ready results
- Passion for customer experience and success
- Honesty and empathy to those around you on a daily basis
- A focused and solution oriented approach necessary to see projects through to completion
- Confidence and decisiveness in moving the ball forward while being flexible and open to feedback
- Ability to demonstrate emerging AI technology in a way that resonates with engineers and executives alike
WHAT YOU HAVE:
- Hands-on experience building with AI coding assistants and agentic tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor), including authoring custom instructions, agent skills, prompts, or plugins
- Demonstrated ability to design, package, and distribute reusable developer tooling for other engineers
- Strong Python development skills and comfort with JSON, YAML, and Markdown-based configuration
- Experience evaluating and testing AI-generated output for quality, correctness, and consistency
- Strong Git skills, including branching, versioning, release management, and maintaining an internal mirror or fork of an upstream project
- Experience in a customer-facing or consulting role, including requirements gathering, demos, and presenting to leadership
- Excellent technical writing and the ability to train users with varied skill levels
- Working familiarity with network or infrastructure automation concepts
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with the Itential Platform (workflows, templates, MOP, Golden Config, Lifecycle Manager, JSON Forms) or Itential Automation Gateway
- Experience with other automati…
