Job Description
• $30–$100 per hour equivalent, paid per accepted task
• 100% remote
• Part-time
• Under 20 hours a week, you choose when
Work on the cutting edge of AI coding systems, on your own schedule, and get paid for the backend engineering judgment you already have.
The AI coding systems changing how software gets built are trained and tested by real software engineers. The teams developing them need backend engineers to frame feature and bug-fix challenges, assess the code produced, develop checks for the expected behavior, and spell out any shortcomings. Your judgment becomes part of how the next generation of coding systems works. This is that work, done remotely around your current job.
What you’ll do
• Give AI coding systems backend feature work and bug-fix scenarios to complete
• Write automated checks that pass valid implementations and flag incomplete or incorrect code
• Assess generated code for correctness, performance, test coverage and maintainability
• Diagnose software bugs and system bottlenecks, then explain what needs to improve
Why this is worth your time
• Get paid the equivalent of $30–$100 an hour to build real AI skills, on top of your current job
• Work directly with frontier AI coding tools and see how they are built, tested and improved, experience most software engineers will not have for years
• Build a career edge for what comes next: AI is reshaping software engineering, and the engineers who understand it from the inside will lead that change
• Fully remote, fully flexible, no minimum shift, no commute
Who this is for
• Professional backend experience using Java or Node.js, or using Go, Rust, TypeScript, Python, C++ or a comparable language
• Experience delivering scalable services and APIs, together with strong knowledge of foundational computer science, including algorithms and data structures
• Strong analytical skills, practical problem-solving ability and technical communication skills; helpful experience includes diagnosing flaky tests, working with CI test pipelines or maintaining automated test suites
• No AI experience needed. You bring the expertise; we bring the training on the tools.
Pay and details
• $30–$100 per hour equivalent; pay is per accepted task, as an independent contractor
• Under 20 hours a week, you choose when; fully remote, United States
