WHAT YOU’LL DO
As the Finance Assistant at Mayda, you’ll have responsibility for our day-to-day financial processing, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank and credit card reconciliations, expense reimbursement review and intercompany reconciliations across our UK and US entities. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career to build a strong foundation in accounting and operations while gaining exposure to the financial side of a growing business.
This role starts as part-time (3 days/week), with the possibility of transitioning to full-time based on business needs. Part-time does not have to be 3 full days, it can be the equivalent of 3 days spread over more days if preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Receivable: Generate and send invoices, track payments, follow up on outstanding balances, and maintain accurate customer records.
- Accounts Payable: Process vendor bills, schedule and execute payments, and maintain organised records of expenses, payables and vendors.
- Bank & Credit Card Reconciliation: Reconcile monthly statements against receipts and expense records, flag discrepancies, and keep spending organised and categorised.
- Reimbursement Review: Review employee expense reimbursement requests for accuracy and policy compliance.
- Intercompany Reconciliations: Record and reconcile balances between related entities.
- Financial Record Keeping: Maintain clean, up-to-date financial records in our accounting software.
- Financial Close: Support Director of Finance in the financial close processes.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in workflows.
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate proactively with vendors, customers, and internal stakeholders on payment matters.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Essentials:
• 0–3 years’ accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Organised, reliable, and able to manage recurring deadlines.
• Strong written communication skills for supplier and client correspondence.
• Ability to manage time effectively with multiple priorities.
• Basic familiarity with accounting software.
Nice to have:
• Experience with QuickBooks and Ramp.
• Understanding of UK GAAP (FRS 102); any exposure to US GAAP is a bonus.
• A degree or qualification in Accounting or Finance (or studying towards AAT/ACCA/CIMA) — we’re happy to train the right person who shows strong fundamentals and a genuine interest in the field.
