Job Description
• $50–$70 per hour
• 100% remote
• Part-time
• Under 10 hours a week, you choose when
Work on the cutting edge of AI, on your own schedule, and get paid for the inpatient coding expertise you already have.
The AI systems everyone is talking about are trained and tested by real medical coding professionals. The teams building them need inpatient medical coders who can review realistic records, judge AI-generated notes and code suggestions, write the answer a coding professional would give, and explain where the AI falls short. Your judgment helps make the next generation of AI more accurate with complex clinical documentation. This is that work, done remotely around your current job.
What you’ll do
• Review inpatient records and determine the principal and secondary diagnoses using current ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS guidelines
• Assess how MCCs, CCs, procedures and present-on-admission indicators affect DRG assignment
• Evaluate AI-generated clinical notes, patient summaries and code suggestions against the documentation and inpatient coding standards
• Resolve diagnosis and procedure coding discrepancies, and flag documentation gaps that may warrant a provider query
Why this is worth your time
• Get paid $50–$70 an hour to build real AI skills, on top of your current job
• Work directly with frontier AI tools and see how they are built, tested and improved, experience most inpatient medical coders will not have for years
• Build a career edge for what comes next: AI is reshaping inpatient medical coding, and the people who understand it from the inside will lead that change
• Fully remote, fully flexible, no minimum shift, no commute
Who this is for
• Active CIC, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, or another AHIMA or AAPC coding credential
• Current experience with inpatient ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding
• Knowledge of DRG assignment, MCC and CC concepts, present-on-admission indicators, current code sets and guidelines, and AHA Coding Clinic, with familiarity with inpatient medical record or encoder systems
• No AI experience needed. You bring the expertise; we bring the training on the tools.
Pay and details
• $50–$70 per hour, paid hourly as an independent contractor
• Under 10 hours a week, you choose when; fully remote, United States
