Job Description
Job Summary
We are looking for a part-time Business Continuity Manager to keep the business running smoothly across all of its service areas and to help us grow it sensibly.
At the moment our work spans several platforms, clients and types of service at once. We need someone who can take an overview of all of it: making sure client work is delivered, that risks are identified and managed before they become problems, and that the business can keep operating if something goes wrong. Alongside this, you will help us spot and test opportunities to grow, whether that means new clients, better ways of working, or new services.
This role suits someone practical and organised who is comfortable moving between the detail of a client project and the bigger picture of the business.
Responsibilities
- Business continuity and operations
- Overseeing and coordinating day-to-day activity across our e-commerce, Airbnb and (in future) tutoring services
Risk management
- Identifying operational, commercial and compliance risks across each service area and keeping a risk register up to date
- Putting practical controls in place and reviewing them regularly
- Keeping an eye on platform rules and policy changes (for example on Shopify and Airbnb) that could affect our clients or our own work
Client work
- Managing e-commerce client projects, particularly Shopify store builds, updates and ongoing support
- Coordinating Airbnb co-hosting activity, including listings, guest communication, bookings and liaison with property owners and cleaning or maintenance providers
- Acting as a point of contact for clients and keeping them informed
Business growth
- Identifying opportunities to grow the business, including new clients, new services and improvements to existing ones
- Helping to plan and prepare for the launch of our online tutoring service
- Reporting regularly to the directors on performance, risks and opportunities, with clear recommendations
- Making sure client work is planned, tracked and delivered to agreed standards and timescales
- Developing and maintaining business continuity plans, so that services can carry on if key people, suppliers or platforms become unavailable
- Documenting core processes so that work does not depend on any one person
Requirements
Essential
- Experience managing client work in e-commerce, ideally including Shopify store development
- Experience of Airbnb hosting or co-hosting, whether for your own properties or on behalf of owners
- Experience of coordinating several workstreams, clients or projects at the same time
- A practical understanding of risk management and how to keep a small business resilient
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Clear written and verbal communication, and confidence dealing with clients
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable
- Experience in a small business or start-up, where you have covered a broad remit
- Knowledge of business continuity or risk frameworks
- Experience of growing a client base or launching a new service
- An interest in, or some knowledge of, the education or tutoring sector, including an awareness of safeguarding
Pay: £16.00-£20.00 per hour
Work Location: Hybrid remote in London
