Software Developer (CET/Configura)

Location: Remote (US) + Travel to Nashville, TN 1 week/quarter

Position Overview:

We’re partnering with an established industrial equipment manufacturer that is growing its in-house software team. The team builds and maintains a custom extension of Configura’s CET platform, the 3D design and space planning software used to lay out, configure and quote products. CET is continues to expand quickly in the material handling space, which makes this a great chance to build a niche, in-demand skill set.

This role is a strong fit for developers who enjoy object-oriented programming and 3D problem solving. Prior CET experience is a plus but not required. Strong C++ or C# developers, especially those with a game development or real-time 3D background, can pick up Configura’s CM language on the job. The team is open to candidates at various experience levels.

Responsibilities:

• Build and enhance features in an existing CET extension using CM, Configura’s object-oriented language
• Write and edit code in Emacs (no prior Emacs experience needed)
• Collaborate in a large, shared codebase with Git for version control
• Manage your work in Jira and contribute to sprints, stand-ups, backlog grooming, code reviews and retros
• Partner with fellow developers, project managers and subject matter experts to turn requirements into working features
• Write SQL queries and set up new tables as needed
• Work in CAD software from time to time
• Stay connected with the team through Teams, email and quarterly onsite weeks

Qualifications:

• Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional software development experience
• Experience with an object-oriented language such as C++ or C# (or Configura’s CM)
• Hands-on experience with Git or another version control system
• Openness to learning CM and the Emacs editor
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Analytical, self-motivated and eager to learn
• Enjoy working through complex technical problems

Preferred:

• Experience with Configura CET Designer or CM development
• Game development or real-time 3D programming experience (Unity, Unreal or custom engines)
• Comfort working with 3D coordinates and geometry
• SQL experience
• Jira or a similar task tracking tool
• Autodesk Inventor experience
• Comfortable presenting on video calls
