Location: Fully remote, with travel to Exeter once per quarter
Job type: Full-time, permanent
Salary: £50,000–£55,000 per annum
About The Company Reed Technology is recruiting for a leading organisation operating in affordable housing services and personal care. The organisation uses technology and innovation to support its mission of making a meaningful difference to people and communities. It values practical, secure digital solutions that help its teams deliver essential services effectively.
This is an opportunity to contribute to work with a purpose beyond technology. You will join a collaborative development team where ideas, technical quality and continuous improvement are encouraged. The organisation is proud of its commitment to social mobility and workplace satisfaction, and offers an environment where people can develop their skills while supporting important services.
About The Role The organisation is seeking a passionate, analytical and self-motivated Software Developer to design, develop and maintain in-house software solutions. You will help ensure that applications meet strategic and operational needs, perform reliably and provide a positive experience for their users.
Working with IT colleagues and stakeholders across the business, you will contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, from understanding requirements and identifying opportunities for improvement through to implementation, testing and ongoing maintenance. The role is fully remote, with travel to Exeter once per quarter, and is offered on a full-time, permanent basis.
Qualifications You will have proven commercial software development experience, particularly with .NET technologies, including C# and MVC.NET. Strong front-end development experience is essential, especially with Angular and reactive applications. You should also bring expertise in T-SQL and JSON, alongside a sound understanding of database structures and query optimisation.
Experience developing cloud-based solutions in Microsoft Azure and using Azure DevOps and Git to manage code repositories is required. You will be comfortable writing secure, maintainable and reusable code, and have a structured, analytical approach to testing, debugging and problem-solving. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment will help you succeed. Experience developing with PHP is desirable but not essential.
Responsibilities Design, develop and maintain in-house software solutions that support the organisation’s strategic goals and operational requirements. Write clean, reusable and secure code, and contribute to the delivery of applications that are reliable and straightforward to maintain.
Review existing systems and identify opportunities to improve performance, functionality and user experience. Develop and implement enhancements that address business needs, while considering the security and stability of systems across multiple platforms. Conduct testing and quality assurance, investigate defects, debug code and resolve issues to help ensure solutions are fit for purpose.
Work closely with IT colleagues and teams across the organisation to understand requirements and align development work with wider business objectives. Maintain and optimise applications over time, and manage code repositories using Azure DevOps and Git. Contribute your technical knowledge, communicate progress clearly and support a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Benefits The salary for this position is £50,000–£55,000 per annum. The benefits package includes 25 days of annual leave, in addition to bank holidays, an enhanced pension scheme and private medical care. Employees can also access a Sharesave scheme, an Employee Assistance Programme and exclusive discounts.
Additional benefits include a flexible working model, an annual company fun day, volunteering leave and family-friendly policies. The role is fully remote, with quarterly travel to Exeter.
Equal Opportunity
The organisation is committed to providing an inclusive workplace where people are treated fairly and with respect. Applications are welcomed from candidates with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. Selection will be based on relevant skills, experience and suitability for the role.
