About the Role

CrowdStrike is seeking a Data Scientist to help develop next-generation AI and machine learning technologies, with a focus on large language models (LLMs), AI safety, AI red-teaming, and cybersecurity applications. This fully remote, full-time position combines hands-on research and development with technical leadership, strategic decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration.

You will work with data scientists, software engineers, product managers, and security experts to build impactful LLM-driven applications and move research into production. The role also involves setting technical direction, mentoring team members, and establishing best practices for AI model development, evaluation, and deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop innovative and efficient solutions for AI safety and cyber detection challenges.
• Collaborate on end-to-end research and development, including data sourcing, data labeling, advanced modeling, evaluation, benchmarking, and product-ready engineering.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to build solutions that are effective, efficient, scalable, and maintainable.
• Drive LLM research and development in collaboration with cybersecurity experts.
• Balance model accuracy, computational efficiency, and operational costs when deploying AI/ML models.
• Make strategic decisions about generative AI model architectures, training approaches, and deployment strategies.
• Lead and define research strategies for new generative AI agents and large language models.
• Develop innovative LLM applications focused on reasoning, summarization, and interactive capabilities.
• Mentor and guide Data Scientists while promoting engineering excellence.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives and work with senior leadership to align technical strategy with business objectives.
• Represent CrowdStrike’s technical work through research publications, speaking engagements, and thought leadership.
• Establish technical standards, best practices, and evaluation frameworks for the team.

Required Qualifications

• Advanced degree, either a master’s or PhD, in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• At least five years of applied machine learning or research experience, including demonstrated expertise in developing production-grade models.
• Deep expertise in LLM training, post-training, or large-scale deployment.
• Strong technical leadership experience, including mentoring teams and setting technical direction.
• Advanced knowledge of Python, deep learning frameworks, and cloud technologies.
• Expert-level understanding of GPU technologies and optimization techniques.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• A proven track record of solving complex technical challenges at scale.

Preferred Qualifications

• Patents or significant intellectual property contributions in AI.
• A strong research portfolio, including publications in leading AI journals and conferences.
• Experience applying machine learning to cybersecurity.
• A track record of successfully moving research into production at scale.
• Contributions to open-source machine learning projects.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base Salary: $120,000–$180,000 per year.

Compensation within the advertised range depends on relevant experience, skills, certifications, job level, supervisory responsibilities, and location.
