Product Designer II (UI Focus)

About the Opportunity

Kellton Tech is recruiting for a Senior Product Designer (UI Focus) contract role with a client. This fully remote opportunity is suited to an experienced product designer with strong visual design skills, a user-centered approach, and experience working with complex, content-heavy digital products across web and native mobile platforms.

The designer will collaborate with product managers, engineers, researchers, and other designers to explore user needs, develop design solutions, validate usability, and deliver production-ready interfaces. The role emphasizes design system expertise, accessibility, usability testing, and clear communication throughout the product development process.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to design sprints, envisioning sessions, and workshops to explore opportunities and align teams around shared outcomes.
• Translate research, usability findings, behavioral data, and operational insights into actionable design directions.
• Use qualitative and quantitative data to inform and refine design decisions throughout the product lifecycle.
• Advocate for human-centered, inclusive design practices that address diverse user needs and accessibility standards.
• Communicate design rationale, research insights, and product vision through presentations, narratives, and design artifacts.
• Create polished, production-ready UI designs with strong visual hierarchy, clear interactions, and attention to detail.
• Design complex, content-rich experiences across responsive websites and native iOS and Android applications.
• Work within established web and native mobile design systems, applying components, patterns, and design tokens consistently.
• Identify design system gaps and recommend improvements where needed.
• Plan, conduct, and analyze usability testing to validate user flows, components, and interactions.
• Build prototypes at appropriate levels of fidelity to explore, test, and communicate design solutions.
• Apply accessibility principles and plain language to improve clarity, comprehension, and usability.
• Use AI-assisted tools where appropriate to support ideation, prototyping, exploration, and iteration.
• Maintain organized design files, documentation, and artifacts to support collaboration and continuity.
• Partner with product managers, engineers, researchers, and stakeholders throughout discovery, design, and delivery.
• Follow established workflows and design processes while providing constructive feedback to improve team practices.
• Participate in standups, sprint planning, design reviews, critiques, and quality assurance cycles.
• Prepare clear, implementation-ready design specifications and annotations for engineering teams.
• Present design concepts, research findings, and recommendations confidently in synchronous and asynchronous settings.

Required Qualifications

• A portfolio of relevant design work must be included with the application.
• A bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as interaction design, human-computer interaction, industrial design, information science, social sciences, computer science, or graphic design, or equivalent work experience.
• Three to seven years of experience in product or service design.
• A strong product design mindset and experience designing complex, content-rich websites and applications.
• Excellent skills in creating and communicating user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs.
• Proficiency in design thinking and human-centered design methodologies.
• Extensive experience working with design systems across web and native mobile platforms.
• Experience planning and conducting usability testing and applying findings to design decisions.
• Strong understanding of responsive design, inclusive design, and accessibility standards.
• Ability to collaborate with engineers and discuss technical constraints.
• Clear communication skills, a collaborative approach, and a strong commitment to user advocacy.
• Curiosity and adaptability, with an interest in emerging design tools and AI-supported workflows.

Design Tools

Experience with tools such as Figma, FigJam, Miro, Adobe Creative Cloud, Lovable, dScout, and User Insight to design, prototype, test, and document work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with front-end technologies is a plus.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted design workflows is beneficial.
