Job Description

Job Summary:
We’re excited to welcome a Senior Solar and Battery Permitting and Interconnection Specialist who takes full ownership of permitting and utility interconnection for our solar and battery storage projects in Texas and California. You’re the person we want if you have recent, hands-on experience taking projects from first submission through final approval and permission to operate (PTO), clearing corrections as they come and keeping every project status accurate. You’ll be the one our team relies on to know exactly where each project stands and what it needs to move forward.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, submit, monitor, and follow up on permit and interconnection applications, revisions, correction responses, inspection requests, and closeout documentation through final approval and PTO
  • Use utility and AHJ portals to retrieve correspondence, find missing requirements, upload the correct documents, track deadlines, and confirm each submission was received and accepted
  • Take over stalled or incomplete applications, review their full history, identify the real blocker, and set out the steps to get them moving
  • Convert utility requirements, plan review comments, and failed inspection notices into clear instructions for installers, electricians, designers, and project managers, covering the required correction, supporting photos or documents, responsible person, and deadline
  • Verify that requested field work is done, collect the needed evidence, submit it to the right party, and confirm the resulting status
  • Call and email utilities, permitting offices, inspectors, and internal teams to clarify requirements and settle issues
  • Review permit packages, site plans, single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, inspection records, and installation photos to catch missing or inconsistent information, and coordinate corrections with our design and field teams
  • Figure out the right permitting and interconnection process for unfamiliar jurisdictions on your own
  • Keep our project management system and project files up to date with each project’s actual stage, last activity, blocker, next action, responsible person, deadline, and next follow-up date, saving every approval and piece of correspondence to the project
  • Report status precisely, drawing a clear line between submitted, accepted, approved, inspected, and authorized to operate

Mandatory Skills:

  • Recent, hands-on experience personally managing solar and battery permitting and utility interconnection in both Texas and California
  • A proven track record of resolving corrections and moving projects through final approval and permission to operate
  • Direct experience with Texas and California utilities such as Oncor, CenterPoint, AEP Texas, TNMP, PG&E, SCE, and SDG&E
  • Demonstrated experience across many cities, counties, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), and the ability to learn a new jurisdiction’s process independently
  • Confident use of utility interconnection and AHJ permitting portals
  • Working knowledge of permit packages, site plans, single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, inspection records, and installation photos
  • A clear understanding of the difference between an application being submitted, accepted, approved, inspected, and authorized to operate
  • Strong communication skills, excellent written and spoken English, and confidence calling utilities, permitting offices, and inspectors
  • Conscientious, accurate, and independently driven
  • Disciplined follow-through, considering a task done only once the outcome is verified
  • Accurate, consistent project tracking and documentation habits

Preferred Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with most or all of the utilities listed above
  • Familiarity with California’s Net Billing Tariff (NEM 3.0) interconnection requirements
  • Knowledge of interconnection processes for Texas utilities in the ERCOT market
  • Working knowledge of NEC requirements for solar and battery storage installations
  • Experience with permitting requirements specific to battery energy storage systems
  • Experience tracking permitting and interconnection pipelines in project management or CRM systems
  • Able to keep a high volume of active projects on track at the same time

Why Join Us:
Join a team that values ownership, accuracy, and follow-through. You’ll be trusted as the go-to expert on permitting and interconnection, with the freedom to run your pipeline your way and real room to grow as our project volu…
