Senior Software Developer (Backend)

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Software Developer (Backend) to join the team of a leader in the Consumer Technology space.

This role will focus on designing and operating scalable backend systems that support high-volume consumer experiences. You will work across distributed services, data storage, and cloud infrastructure to improve reliability, performance, and developer productivity. The position partners closely with product, engineering, and operations teams to deliver resilient technical solutions in a fast-moving environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $108,000 – $135,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Architect and build scalable backend services using Java and Node.js
• Model complex distributed domains with Domain Driven Design and event-driven patterns
• Design robust asynchronous workflows using Kafka, AWS SQS, and SNS
• Define SLIs/SLOs and lead production incident response for reliability
• Optimize data architecture across relational, analytical, and caching layers
• Deploy and operate cloud-native services on AWS/Azure with Kubernetes
• Collaborate with and mentor cross-functional Agile teams to promote engineering excellence

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and operating production-grade backend services at scale
• Strong proficiency in Java (Quarkus/Spring Boot) and Node.js
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and pub/sub patterns
• Hands-on experience with relational (PostgreSQL/MySQL), NoSQL, and Redis databases
• Solid experience deploying to AWS/Azure with Kubernetes (EKS)
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation) and automated testing tools
• Familiarity with RESTful API design and observability standards using Datadog
