Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy scalable Python applications and services aligned with project requirements.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and web services to facilitate seamless integration across platforms.
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements using Angular, React, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Utilise version control tools such as Git and GitHub to manage code repositories efficiently.
• Write clean, efficient code adhering to best practices in object-oriented programming (OOP) and software design patterns like UML and MVC.
• Conduct debugging and troubleshooting of applications to resolve issues promptly.
• Implement unit testing strategies to ensure code quality and reliability.
• Work with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, and Oracle (PL/SQL) for data storage solutions.
• Develop scripts for automation using Bash (Unix shell), Shell Scripting, or PowerShell where applicable.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by participating in Scrum meetings and Agile practices.
• Ensure security standards are maintained when developing web services with SOAP or WCF protocols.

Skills

• Proven experience in Python development with a solid understanding of core concepts such as application development and database design.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms including AWS and Azure for deploying scalable applications.
• Strong knowledge of RESTful API design principles; experience with SOAP-based web services is advantageous.
• Front-end development skills using Angular, React, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (including TypeScript), AJAX, Bootstrap for creating responsive user interfaces.
• Experience working with various databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB; proficiency in T-SQL and PL/SQL is desirable.
• Hands-on experience with version control systems like Git (GitHub) or SVN; familiarity with TFS is a plus.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and containerisation technologies such as Docker is preferred.
• Ability to utilise development tools including Visual Studio and Eclipse efficiently.
• Understanding of SDLC methodologies like Scrum; experience with debugging tools is essential.
• Familiarity with application frameworks such as.NET (including ASP.NET Core), Ruby on Rails or PHP is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Experience in API documentation standards using UML diagrams or XML schemas; knowledge of XSLT is beneficial.
• Competence in scripting languages including Bash or Shell Scripting for automation tasks.

Pay: £66,500.00-£109,000.00 per year
