Job Description

The Full-Stack Software Developer (New Grad) – Remote develops digital identity and credentialing solutions with guidance from experienced engineers. As part of a forward-deployed engineering team, the role combines backend services, web applications, and customer deployments for state governments, public-sector partners, and enterprise clients, with an emphasis on privacy, interoperability, and open standards.

Build and Deploy Across the Stack

  • Collaborate with customer delivery leads, engineers, and UX designers on real-world implementations.
  • Develop full-stack features for governments and public-sector partners with senior engineering guidance.
  • Learn to turn customer requirements into technical solutions and production-ready systems.
  • Build backend services and web applications that satisfy public-sector security, privacy, and accessibility standards.
  • Contribute to backend, mobile, and browser codebases, participating in deployments and the full software delivery lifecycle.
  • Apply privacy-focused engineering practices and engage with open identity standards, including work involving W3C, DIF, and IETF.

A Foundation for Early-Career Engineers

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; recent graduates are welcome.
  • Foundational backend development experience in a statically typed language such as Rust, Go, C#, or Java. Coursework, internships, and personal projects qualify.
  • The ability to learn quickly, collaborate, ask questions, and communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders.
  • Appreciation for open-source software, clean code, and thoughtful engineering.
  • US residence, or willingness to relocate without visa assistance; TN is considered.

Helpful experience includes full-stack internships or projects; AWS, GCP, or Azure through coursework or side projects; digital identity, cryptography, data privacy, or security; React, TypeScript, or similar frontends; PostgreSQL, REST or GraphQL APIs, or CI/CD concepts; open-source contributions or hackathons; accessibility, usability, or inclusive design; and government technology, civic technology, or high-compliance environments.

Mentorship and Working Environment

Senior engineers provide dedicated mentorship, and structured onboarding covers the technology stack, standards, and customer context. Regular one-to-one meetings and feedback support career goals. Project ownership grows with appropriate guidance, with exposure from customer discovery through production deployment.

This full-time position is fully remote from anywhere in the United States, with asynchronous collaboration. The work supports systems serving millions of people, combining early responsibility with a team focused on engineering quality, mentorship, and privacy-preserving public services.

Compensation

The annual base salary range is $110,000–$140,000 USD. The offer depends on experience, qualifications, skills, and work location. Equity is offered, and compensation may also include performance-based bonuses and a benefits package.

Equal employment opportunity applies across backgrounds and protected characteristics, including race, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, and veteran status.
