Job Description
Senior Developer / Development Manager (Contract)
UK (Fully Remote)
Competitive day rate, Outside IR35
Our client is a utility-backed independent power producer with a large operational renewables portfolio across the UK and Europe. They are looking for an experienced developer on a 6 to 12 month contract to take ownership of a live pipeline of onshore wind and battery storage projects while they shape their longer-term development team. This is a hands-on role with an immediate start, focused on moving advanced projects forward rather than early origination.
The Company
Our client has grown from a modest UK operational base into an established IPP with long-term owner backing and a mix of solar and wind assets generating today. Their development work now centres on onshore wind in Scotland and on adding battery storage to their existing solar fleet. You would join a small, senior development team where your decisions shape project timelines directly and your work is visible from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning workstreams on several advanced onshore wind projects in Scotland, including a Section 36 scheme, alongside agreements with neighbouring wind farms.
- Progress a programme of BESS projects co-located with existing UK solar sites, where land and grid are already secured, through planning and landowner engagement.
- Support the wider development pipeline as new opportunities come forward.
- Manage planning, environmental and technical consultants and contractors to keep programmes on track and resolve issues before they cause delay.
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years’ UK renewables development experience, ideally including onshore wind planning and consenting in Scotland.
- Exposure to the Section 36 process or other large-scale consenting regimes.
- BESS development experience, particularly co-location or retrofit with existing generation.
- Confident managing external consultants and challenging their outputs.
- Comfortable working autonomously on a contract basis.
Benefits
- Outside IR35 engagement.
- Fully remote working.
- 6 to 12 month initial term with an immediate start.
- Advanced projects with land and grid largely in place, so the focus is delivery.
- Exposure to a well-capitalised IPP at an important point in its development.
Skills
- Retrofit
