Job Description
Company Description Vardags is a world-renowned law firm founded by “Britain’s top divorce lawyer”, Ayesha Vardag. We act for UHNW individuals on high-profile and law-changing cases, deploying bespoke strategic solutions to make the law work for our clients in some of the most substantial and complex matters in the field. Vardags is not an ordinary law firm. It has a fast-paced entrepreneurial culture and fosters rapid decision making. We have deliberately moved away from the traditional rainmaker model, building instead a commercial marketing-driven business. Having previously been ranked by the Financial Times as Europe’s fastest-growing law firm, the firm has UK offices in London, Manchester and Cambridge with approximately 110 staff and revenue of c. £22m. Vardags is led by CEO Dr Stephen Bence (unusually for a law firm not a lawyer but instead an ex-McKinsey, successful SaaS entrepreneur, PhD in astrophysicist and the mastermind behind Vardags’ 15x growth over his tenure).
Role Description The Special Project Manager will lead and coordinate high-impact initiatives across Vardags, supporting senior stakeholders and practice teams to deliver complex, time-sensitive projects. This is a hands-on role at a pivotal moment for Vardags. The firm is scaling internationally, launching new propositions and investing heavily in AI. We need someone who can turn ambitious ideas into operational reality and make the firm run even better. You will report directly to the Chief of Staff (ex-Bain, ex-Morgan Stanley). We also want you to contribute actively to the firm’s growth and profitability by bringing bold ideas and acting on them.
The role has three mandates:
- Systems. Help roll out and embed new systems across the firm (in the UK and internationally)
- Processes. Map and improve how we work, starting with the Client Relations team and legal delivery
- Strategic projects. Support ad hoc projects for the Chief of Staff and the CEO
To do well in this role:
- You have to be structured, practical and curious
- You have to be comfortable working with (very technical) Tech team, but also lawyers and business teams
- You are good with absorbing large amount of information and synthetising into plans, and plans into results!
Qualifications
- 2+ years’ experience in management consultancy, operations, transformation or a similar role
- A track record of delivering systems implementations and/or process improvement projects
- Experience working with technical teams and an ability to understand and translate technical concepts
- Experience mapping processes and redesigning them
- Experience in professional services or a law firm is helpful
- Degree-level education from a leading university
