Job Description
We’re opening the doors to something new in the heart of Chelsea, and we’re looking for brilliant people to be part of it from the very beginning.
This is an opportunity to join the Dover Street Counter family at an exciting moment — helping shape a new restaurant, build a new team and create the kind of guest experience that people remember.
As Floor Manager, you’ll play a key role in bringing this new opening to life. You’ll help set the standards on the floor, build the culture of the Front of House team and create an environment where both guests and team members feel genuinely looked after.
Working closely with the wider management team, you’ll lead service with warmth, confidence and a strong presence on the floor — developing your team, building guest relationships and helping establish the style of hospitality we want Dover Street Counter Chelsea to be known for.
Duties
· Lead the Front of House team with confidence, warmth and a hands-on approach.
· Deliver an exceptional guest experience through genuine hospitality and attention to detail.
· Be highly present on the floor, supporting the team and engaging naturally with guests.
· Lead pre-service briefings, ensuring the team is informed, motivated and ready for service.
· Coordinate the floor during service to ensure a smooth and seamless guest journey.
· Manage sections, team deployment and service flow according to the needs of each shift.
· Maintain consistently high standards of service, presentation and restaurant organisation.
· Read the room, anticipate guest needs and respond quickly to anything that could impact their experience.
· Build genuine relationships with guests and help develop strong guest loyalty.
· Handle guest feedback and concerns with empathy, confidence and professionalism.
· Train, coach and develop the Front of House team, building their confidence, knowledge and service skills.
· Support the recruitment, onboarding and retention of a strong and engaged FOH team.
· Provide regular feedback and recognise great performance.
· Develop strong food, wine and drinks knowledge within the team.
· Work closely with Reception, Bar and Kitchen teams to ensure clear communication throughout service.
· Support opening and closing procedures and ensure all required standards and checks are completed.
· Maintain high standards of food safety, allergen awareness, health & safety and licensing compliance.
· Support stock, ordering and operational responsibilities when required.
· Assist the wider management team with the day-to-day running of the restaurant.
· Take ownership of service and make confident decisions when senior management is not present.
· Bring ideas, solutions and positive energy to the restaurant.
· Represent the Dover Street Counter brand with pride.
Requirements
· A genuine passion for hospitality and looking after people.
· Previous experience as a Floor Manager, Assistant Manager, Restaurant Supervisor or similar leadership role within a busy, high-quality restaurant.
· Strong understanding of restaurant service and the complete guest journey.
· Warm, approachable and naturally engaging.
· Confident leading a team while remaining hands-on and supportive.
· Strong communication, organisation and multitasking skills.
· Excellent attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards.
· Able to read a busy restaurant and make confident decisions during service.
· Comfortable handling guest feedback and difficult situations professionally.
· Strong food and beverage knowledge, with the curiosity to continue learning.
· A natural coach who enjoys developing and encouraging people.
· Positive, calm and solutions-focused under pressure.
· Commercially aware and interested in understanding the wider restaurant operation.
· Reliable, punctual and professional.
· A strong team player who communicates openly and respectfully across departments.
· Flexible to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
· Most importantly, a leader who sets the standard through their own behaviour and brings out the best in the people around them.
Your Next Step
We want the Floor Manager role to be an opportunity to develop as a restaurant leader, not simply manage a shift.
Working closely with the wider management team, you will continue developing your skills in people management, guest relations, service leadership, training, restaurant operations and commercial awareness.
