Job Description
About the Company
Bright Vision Technologies (BV Teck) is a technology consulting and software development company delivering cloud, AI, data, and enterprise solutions across the United States.
About the Role
Bright Vision Technologies is seeking an AI Applications Engineer to design, develop, and operationalize fine-tuning workflows for large language models (LLMs). This role focuses on supervised fine-tuning, preference optimization, reinforcement learning techniques, dataset quality, and reliable training pipeline operations.
The ideal candidate will combine strong machine learning expertise with production engineering experience to build scalable training workflows, evaluate model capabilities and safety, and deliver reliable results. The engineer will collaborate with product, research, engineering, operations, and business teams to translate complex requirements into practical solutions. The role also involves technical documentation, code and design reviews, and mentoring junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute LLM fine-tuning experiments using supervised fine-tuning, Direct Preference Optimization (DPO), Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF), and related techniques.
- Lead dataset construction, curation, and quality assurance for instruction tuning and preference-based training.
- Build scalable training pipelines using modern distributed training frameworks.
- Optimize hyperparameters, optimizer configurations, and training stability strategies for large-model fine-tuning.
- Implement parameter-efficient fine-tuning methods, including LoRA, QLoRA, and adapter-based techniques.
- Develop rigorous evaluation suites using automated benchmarks, human evaluation, and capability-specific testing.
- Implement safety, refusal, and policy evaluations to monitor model behavior across releases.
- Operate large-scale training jobs on GPU clusters, diagnose failures, and recover training states reliably.
- Improve training throughput using mixed precision, sequence packing, and efficient attention implementations.
- Manage model artifacts, track model lineage, and maintain reproducibility across concurrent experiments.
- Collaborate with product, research, and platform teams to align fine-tuning roadmaps with business needs.
- Document training methodologies, results, and technical decisions for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Mentor engineers on fine-tuning practices, evaluation rigor, and responsible model deployment.
- Monitor developments in LLM research and translate relevant advances into production-ready fine-tuning approaches.
- Participate in code reviews and design reviews to maintain engineering quality and support continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 6 years of combined machine learning research and engineering experience, with significant exposure to large language models.
- Strong proficiency in Python a nd modern deep learning frameworks, particularly PyTorch.
- Hands-on experience fine-tuning transformer-based language models at meaningful scale.
- Familiarity with distributed training strategies, including FSDP, ZeRO, and pipeline parallelism.
- Experience with RLHF, DPO, or other preference optimization techniques.
- Strong understanding of evaluation methodologies, benchmarking, and human evaluation design.
- Experience operating training jobs on GPU clusters and recovering from training failures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A track record of shipping impactful LLM work or publishing relevant research.
Preferred Qualifications
- Publications at leading machine learning research venues.
- Experience fine-tuning multimodal models.
- Familiarity with synthetic data generation and dataset distillation.
- Open-source contributions to LLM training libraries.
- Exposure to responsible AI evaluation and red-teaming practices.
Position Details
- Location: 100% remote within the United States.
- Employment Type: Full-time, direct W2.
- Salary Range: $100,000–$175,000 annually.
- Experience Required: 6+ years.
- Work Authorization: U.S. citizens, Green Card holders, EAD holders, and candidates seeking an H-1B transfer are encouraged to apply. New H-1B visa petitions cannot be sponsored for this position.
