Back End Developer

We are looking for a Back-End Software Engineer to help build, enhance, and modernize digital platforms, content management systems, and customer-facing web applications. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in Node.js and TypeScript, experience developing APIs and integrating headless content management systems, and an understanding of scalable web architecture and performance optimization.

This role will contribute to the evolution of established digital platforms, supporting both existing infrastructure and newer application architectures. Key areas of focus include backend service development, content delivery, search functionality, caching, and platform migrations. The successful candidate will be comfortable working across legacy and modern technology environments while ensuring a seamless experience for end users and maintaining content integrity, site performance, and search engine visibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Support modern web applications built with React and server-side rendering technologies.
• Integrate headless content management systems to support structured content delivery across digital platforms.
• Develop and enhance search functionality, including indexing, tagging, filtering, and content retrieval.
• Build and maintain containerized applications using Docker.
• Implement caching strategies across application layers and content delivery networks to improve performance and scalability.
• Contribute to platform modernization initiatives, including the transition from legacy systems to newer technology stacks.
• Support parallel operation of existing and replacement platforms to ensure continuity throughout migration projects.
• Maintain content accuracy, URL structures, metadata, and search engine optimization standards during platform transitions.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, designers, content specialists, SEO professionals, and other technical stakeholders.
• Diagnose and resolve backend performance issues, integration challenges, and application reliability concerns.
• Participate in technical planning, code reviews, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, maintainability, and overall development efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and TypeScript in backend development.
• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining APIs and service integrations.
• Familiarity with headless CMS architecture and structured content delivery.
• Experience supporting React-based applications and server-side rendering frameworks.
• Working knowledge of Docker and containerized application environments.
• Understanding of search technologies, indexing strategies, tagging, and content retrieval.
• Experience implementing caching solutions at the application and CDN levels.
• Knowledge of web performance, scalability, and reliable content delivery practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively across engineering and digital experience teams.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and an ability to navigate complex technical environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting content-rich websites, marketing platforms, or customer-facing digital products.
• Familiarity with Contentful or similar headless content management platforms.
• Exposure to Elasticsearch or comparable search and indexing technologies.
• Experience with legacy application modernization and platform migration projects.
• Understanding of SEO considerations during website migrations, including URL mapping, metadata preservation, and content validation.
• Familiarity with Ruby for maintaining existing applications or supporting system integrations.
• Experience planning and executing production cutovers with appropriate testing and validation.
• Background working in collaborative, cross-functional software delivery environments.
• Experience optimizing application performance, content delivery, and backend infrastructure.
