Job Description

We’re hiring Lighting designer!!

Job Description:

As a Junior Lighting Designer, you will assist in the conceptualization, design development, documentation, and visualization of lighting solutions for a range of architectural and design typologies. This role is perfect for early-career designers eager to grow in a dynamic, collaborative, and design-oriented setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lighting Design

• Support the development of lighting concepts from early design through to detailed design.

• Translate design narratives and architectural intent into clear lighting strategies.

• Develop lighting layouts, fixture selections and lighting details under the guidance of senior

designers.

• Consider light distribution, colour temperature, contrast, glare and visual comfort as part of

the overall experience.

• Review architectural and interior design information to identify opportunities and constraints

for lighting integration.

  1. Visualization & Rendering

• Produce high-quality lighting renders and visual studies that communicate atmosphere and

design intent.

• Use visualisation as a design tool to study brightness, contrast, hierarchy and the relationship

between light, material and architecture.

• Prepare clear visual material for internal design reviews and client presentations.

• Refine renders based on design feedback while maintaining consistency with the agreed

lighting concept.

  1. DIALux & Technical Studies

• Develop accurate lighting calculations using DIALux evo.

• Prepare calculation models, lux studies, false-colour diagrams and supporting reports.

• Interpret calculation results rather than treating compliance as the sole measure of a

successful lighting scheme.

• Support the team in balancing required illumination levels, visual comfort, energy

considerations and design intent.

• Coordinate calculation models with current architectural information and luminaire data.

  1. Documentation & Coordination

• Assist with lighting layouts, schedules, specifications and technical documentation.

• Coordinate lighting information with architectural, interior and MEP drawings.

• Review drawings and identify coordination issues that may affect the lighting design.

• Assist with luminaire research and technical comparisons based on optical performance, light

quality, form and suitability for the project.

• Support senior designers during design reviews, project meetings and site coordination when

required.

• Maintain organised project files and accurate design information throughout each project

stage.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience at an independent lighting in architectural

lighting design.

• Degree or relevant qualification in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design or a related

discipline.

• Strong working knowledge of DIALux evo.

• Good capability in 3D visualisation and lighting rendering.

• Ability to read and understand architectural, interior and MEP drawings.

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite.

• Familiarity with common 3D modelling and rendering software.

• Basic understanding of luminaires, optics, beam distributions, colour temperature, CRI and lighting controls.

• Good graphic presentation skills and attention to detail.

• Clear written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Ability to manage assigned tasks and deadlines within a collaborative environment.

• Has a considered eye for composition, proportion and detail.

• Is willing to test ideas, learn and respond thoughtfully to critique.

• Takes responsibility for the quality and accuracy of their work.

• Understands that good lighting requires restraint as much as creativity.
