Senior Full Stack Developer (TypeScript / Next.js / Supabase)

About the Role

We’re building a consumer web product that helps salaried employees assess whether their employer’s benefits package health, dental, vision, life, AD&D, disability, tax-advantaged accounts, and retirement — actually protects their household. Users upload plan documents, an LLM extracts the terms, and we score the gaps and produce an actionable report.

We’re looking for a senior full-stack engineer who has shipped a product end-to-end largely on their own. This is not a role for someone who has only worked inside a large team on one layer of the stack. You’ll own the database schema, the backend, the frontend, and the deployment.

What You’ll Build

• A multi-step assessment wizard capturing household, income, and benefits data
• A document upload pipeline: PDF object storage async LLM extraction with structured JSON output human review and confirmation UI
• A rules-driven scoring engine producing a weighted 0–100 adequacy score across six benefit domains
• A prioritised recommendation engine with dollar-denominated gap figures
• A PDF report generator
• Admin tooling for updating annual IRS-style limits and thresholds without a deploy

Must Have

• 5+ years professional software engineering
• Production TypeScript and React — not tutorial-level
• Next.js (App Router) in production
• PostgreSQL schema design — tables, indexes, migrations. Not just ORM calls.
• Supabase or Firebase experience
• Hands-on LLM API integration (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar) with structured/JSON output and malformed-response handling
• Serverless / edge function experience
• Shipped at least one product end-to-end, solo or as one of two engineers
• Comfortable working directly with a non-technical founder on ambiguous requirements
• Public GitHub with original, non-forked repositories

Good to Have

• Background job queues and async pipelines
• PDF generation or headless browser tooling
• Rules engine / decision engine experience
• Fintech, insurtech, or healthtech exposure
• Prior freelance or contract experience with overseas clients

Not a Fit If

• You are primarily a data scientist, ML engineer, or DevOps specialist
• Your stack is Java, .NET, PHP, or WordPress only
• You are mobile-only (React Native / Flutter / native) with no web shipping
• Your GitHub is all forks, bootcamp projects, or empty
