**Senior Ruby on Rails Developer (B2B Contract) Remote, EU**

About the role

We’re hiring a Ruby on Rails developer for a B2B contract with a product-focused technology company. You’ll join an established engineering team, working on a mature Rails codebase and shipping features that reach live users. This is a long-term engagement with the option to extend.

Contract details

• B2B / freelance contract, initially 6 to 12 months with extension likely
• Fully remote, open to candidates based anywhere in the EU
• Working hours overlapping with CET, with a few team meetings a week
• Start date: ASAP, with flexibility for notice periods

What you’ll do

• Build and maintain backend features in Ruby on Rails
• Design and consume REST APIs and integrate third-party services
• Improve performance, test coverage, and code quality across the codebase
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers
• Take part in code reviews and technical discussions

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years of commercial experience with Ruby on Rails
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and background job tools such as Sidekiq
• Solid testing habits (RSpec or Minitest)
• Comfortable working independently and communicating clearly in English
• Experience working as a contractor or freelancer, or readiness to invoice through your own company

Nice to have

• Experience with React, Hotwire, or Stimulus
• Familiarity with AWS, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines
• Exposure to fintech, e-commerce, or SaaS products
• Experience with event-driven or service-oriented architectures
