Senior Manager Investment Accounting (VP / Assistant Controller Level)

We have partnered with our client, a leading life insurance and reinsurance organization, in their search for a Senior Manager Investment Accounting (VP / Assistant Controller level) to lead the investment reporting team and oversee monthly and quarterly investment accounting activities. This leader will ensure the accurate and complete accounting and reporting of the organization’s investment portfolio under U.S. GAAP and U.S. statutory accounting frameworks while supporting the broader investment accounting function. This role can be done 100% remote.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the investment reporting team through monthly and quarterly close cycles.
• Oversee U.S. GAAP and U.S. statutory investment accounting and reporting activities.
• Review investment accounting results and reporting deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed accurately and on schedule, with reconciling items resolved promptly.
• Partner with accounting, finance, investments, and reporting stakeholders to support business requirements.
• Provide leadership, oversight, and direction across the investment accounting function.
• Maintain effective reporting processes and controls supporting the organization’s investment portfolio.

Required Qualifications

• Investment accounting experience within a life and annuity insurance or reinsurance organization.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and U.S. statutory investment accounting and reporting.
• Experience overseeing monthly and quarterly close and reporting processes.
• Strong balance sheet reconciliation experience.
• Demonstrated people leadership and team management experience.
• Ability to operate effectively at the Senior Manager, Vice President, or Assistant Controller level.
