We are looking to expand our team of expert consultants with Biosecurity and Biodefense Experts for part-time, fully remote work supporting frontier AI research. Projects start at 90-150 USD / hour, and the bracket can be flexible depending on the task.

This role includes evaluating and pressure-testing leading AI models on expert-level biosecurity and biodefense knowledge, creating and verifying graduate-level problems and worked solutions, and assessing whether AI-generated reasoning meets the standards of a trained biosecurity and biodefense expert.

Who We’re Looking For

You are an experienced, currently employed biological researcher or biological-risk specialist with deep expertise in one or more of the following areas: Biological Threat Assessment, Dual-Use Research and Technical Governance, Biodefense Countermeasure Research, Biotechnology Security, AI and Biological Risk, Biothreat Detection and Forensics, Laboratory Biorisk Management, or Agricultural and Zoonotic Defense.

Both research and applied practice are welcome. Microbiology and virology expertise is especially valuable, and experience with dual-use or select-agent research is a strong signal.

Ideal backgrounds include

• Scientists and technical leaders at government defense and agricultural-defense laboratories
• Researchers at independent institutes and contract laboratories with biological-defense or high-containment programs
• Biosafety, biosecurity, and biological-risk specialists running substantive risk assessment programs
• Researchers at universities and academic medical centers with biocontainment or select-agent programs
• Scientists at biological-countermeasure companies
• Biological-security and laboratory-oversight specialists at public-health agencies
• Biosecurity screening and safeguards specialists at DNA-synthesis suppliers, biosecurity nonprofits, and AI developers

Minimum Qualifications

• Fluent English reading and writing skills
• Currently employed in a relevant biological research, biosecurity, biodefense, or biological-risk role
• Substantial experience as a contributor or technical leader in your area
• A PhD is preferred for research depth but is not required. Experienced MS and MPH professionals are eligible, and strong technical biosafety and biosecurity specialists are welcome even without recent hands-on research
• Deep expertise in at least one of the listed areas
