Job Description
📍 Gold Coast | 🏡 Work from home | ⏰ Flexible hours I’m looking for a friendly, organised and motivated person to join my small (but growing!) accounting practice, Breeze Accounting Solutions.
This could be a fantastic opportunity for a university student studying accounting or a recent graduate looking to gain some practical experience in the industry, with flexible hours that fit around study or other commitments.
I’m hoping to find someone who will become a valued, long-term part of the business, with the opportunity to develop their skills and take on more responsibilities as we grow!
💻 THE ROLE The position will involve a mixture of bookkeeping, accounting support and client administration, with responsibilities increasing as you gain experience.
Some of the tasks will include:
✅ Basic bookkeeping in Xero and QuickBooks, including allocating transactions and bank reconciliations.
✅ Assisting with the preparation of simple individual income tax returns as your skills develop.
✅ Following up with clients for outstanding information, documents and queries through our online client portal (TaxDome).
✅ Assisting with new client onboarding and general client correspondence.
✅ Preparing and sending tax returns and other documents for electronic signing.
✅ Monitoring client jobs, workflows and deadlines.
✅ General accounting and administrative support.
You’ll receive guidance and training along the way, so you don’t need to know how to do everything from day one!
🌱 WHO I’M LOOKING FOR Ideally, someone who:
• Is currently studying accounting, bookkeeping or a related field, or has recently graduated.
• Has excellent attention to detail and enjoys working with numbers.
• Is organised, reliable and able to work independently.
• Has good communication skills and is comfortable interacting with clients.
• Is confident with technology and keen to learn new systems.
• Takes initiative, asks questions and genuinely wants to learn!
Previous experience with Xero, QuickBooks, TaxDome or an accounting practice would be a bonus, but not essential for the right person.
⏰ HOURS & FLEXIBILITY • Approximately 5–10 hours per week initially, with opportunities for additional hours as the business grows.
• Work predominantly from home.
• Ideally spread across 2–3 days per week, with shorter shifts of around 3 hours, rather than all hours worked in one day.
• Flexible working days and times to fit around university, family or other commitments.
• Some availability during normal business hours is preferred to maintain consistent communication with clients.
☕ A LITTLE ABOUT WORKING WITH ME As a small business owner, I’d love to find someone who wants to grow alongside the business, rather than simply being handed a list of tasks.
Although this is predominantly a work-from-home position, I’d love to have regular coffee catch-ups or video calls to run through workloads, provide training, answer questions and share ideas.
Just as importantly, I’d like us to get to know each other and build a great working relationship!
I’m pretty relaxed and flexible, but I really value initiative, reliability, good communication and someone who genuinely cares about doing a great job.
This could be a great stepping stone for someone studying accounting who wants to gain real-world experience in a small practice, with the potential to build their skills in bookkeeping, taxation and client management over time.
💌 **INTERESTED?
I’d love to hear from you!** Please email your resume and a brief introduction about yourself, including what you’re currently studying (or your qualifications), any relevant experience, your availability and why you think the role would suit you.
