Innovation Programme Manager

We’re looking for a curious, adaptable all-rounder to help us bring deep tech out of the lab and into the market. Broad remit, small team, real work from week one.

Role: Innovation Programme Manager

Salary: £40,000 depending on experience, plus a discretionary performance bonus

Location: London Bridge, hybrid — at least 50% of your working week in the office

Contract: Permanent, full time, with a three-month probation period

About us

Wyzer Innovation Partners helps deep tech companies get from a working technology to a commercial business. We work with founders, spinouts and scale-ups across medical devices, sustainability and industrial transformation, and our work spans product development, commercial strategy and funding support.

We’re a small core team with a network of specialist partners across IP, regulatory, design, engineering, grant funding and finance. That lets us take on problems much larger than our headcount, and it means everyone here works across several projects at once.

Our turnover is on track to double this year.

About the role

The work is varied. In a given week you might help pull together a grant application for a medical device company, join a call with a university technology transfer office, think through how we scope and price our work, and draft part of an investment readiness review.

Nobody arrives able to do all of that. What matters is that you pick things up fast, ask good questions, and can take a rough brief and make a start on it without waiting to be shown how. Support is there when you want it.

AI tools are part of how we work day to day: research, drafting, analysis, small internal tools. We expect whoever joins to be at least as good at this as we are, and to teach us things.

What you’ll be doing

The balance shifts with what the business needs. Roughly half your time on client delivery, half split between business development and how we run ourselves.

Project delivery

• Running workstreams on client projects: market and competitor research, commercial modelling, investment readiness reviews
• Drafting grant applications and funding bids, and tracking deadlines across a live pipeline
• Coordinating our specialist partners so multi-disciplinary projects land on time
• Preparing reports, proposals and presentations our clients will put in front of their own boards and investors

Business development

• Researching and qualifying prospects, and building our pipeline with university technology transfer offices, accelerators and investors
• Supporting proposal writing and pricing
• Representing Wyzer at events and in early conversations with founders

How we run ourselves

• Improving how we scope, price, resource and quality-check work
• Building internal tooling, much of it AI-assisted, to take manual work out of the business
• Keeping our knowledge base, templates and project records genuinely useful

After six months

What we’d expect by then:

1. You’re leading a couple of client workstreams with minimal oversight, and clients trust you.
2. You’ve taken one process that currently lives in people’s heads — scoping, pricing or project tracking — and made it written down and repeatable.
3. You’ve helped open up new opportunities through your own research and conversations.

We’ll review against these at three and six months, and you’ll know how it’s going well before then.

What we’re looking for

No set number of years’ experience, and no particular degree. We care about what you can do and how you think. If you meet most of this, apply.

Essential

• Clear, precise writing. Much of the work is documents going to clients, investors and funders, and they have to be right.
• Critical, fluent use of AI tools at work. Tell us about a workflow you’ve built or a task you’ve made faster, including where the tools got it wrong and how you caught it.
• Evidence that you learn hard things quickly, in any context.
• The judgement to run several things at once and decide for yourself what matters first.
• Real curiosity about startups and technology — specific enough that you can talk about a company or technology you follow and why.
• A working sense of the UK innovation landscape: who funds early-stage deep tech, what a spinout is, roughly how Innovate UK and technology transfer work.
