Job Description
We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our growing finance team on a 6 month fixed-term contract, on a part time basis, with the potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate.
Based in our Reading office 2-3 days per week working 20 hours per week across 5 days, this is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their accounting and finance experience within a supportive and fast-paced environment
Duties
You will provide proactive and efficient support to the day-to-day operation of the finance function, helping to maintain accurate financial records, effective credit control processes and timely accounts payable administration. Working closely with the wider finance team, you will manage a range of accounting and administrative activities, including transaction processing, invoicing, credit control, supplier invoice management and client account queries.
The role will involve maintaining accurate records within QuickBooks Online, ensuring daily transactions are correctly allocated and reconciled, supporting monthly billing activities and assisting with the financial onboarding of new clients. You will also play a key role in managing aged debt, liaising with clients regarding outstanding invoices and supporting supplier payment processes through the accurate recording and administration of accounts payable activities.
Working four hours per day, five days per week, the successful candidate will be organised, detail-oriented and proactive, with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high levels of accuracy and professionalism.
Experience
Our Accounts Assistant role requires a minimum of two years’ experience within an Accounts Assistant, Credit Control, Purchase Ledger or similar transactional finance position. Applicants should have practical experience of using QuickBooks Online and demonstrate confidence in managing day-to-day accounting activities, including invoicing, allocating receipts and payments, maintaining accurate financial records and resolving account queries.
We are looking for an organised and detail-oriented individual with strong numerical accuracy and a proactive approach to credit control, including the ability to successfully recover outstanding debt while maintaining positive client relationships. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and handle confidential financial information with discretion.
Experience supporting accounts payable processes, including obtaining invoice approvals, posting supplier invoices, monitoring shared finance inboxes and assisting with payment runs, would be advantageous. Experience of using CMap would also be beneficial.
