Software Engineer

Job Description Change the world. Love your job. The DLP Products Organization has openings for Embedded Software Engineer . In this role, you’ll design and develop real-time SW to control our family of DLP Controllers. You’ll write code that tells the Controller how to operate in revolutionary new ways. You will work closely with other functions like systems, applications engineering, marketing to collaborate and solve business problems. If you are passionate about embedded systems & software, this is the place to be as you get to work on a complete system that has electronics, optics and mechanics that has its applications across Industrial, Automotive and Display end equipment.

In addition, software engineers might work directly with customers on any issues that arise and deliver on-going support along with regular software releases, which includes quality assurance and release management activities.

As a Software Engineer, some of your responsibilities may include:

• Requirements definition, design, development, test, integration, and support of embedded software (e.g. operating system software, device drivers, software frameworks, algorithmic libraries etc.) and software development tools (compilers, simulators, IDEs, etc.)
• Following established software development methodology and practices defined for the business
• Developing and applying machine learning algorithms to edge applications, which may include using AI coding assistant to develop embedded software
• Supporting pre-silicon design and requirements as well as software validation activities
• Impacting hardware architecture requirements from a software usage, compatibility, performance, and reuse potential perspectives
• Creating and maintaining customer collateral for software products and deliverables
• Working closely with TI teams (silicon, hardware, software teams) and customers as part of the normal software life-cycle
• Quality assurance and configuration/release management

Qualifications Minimum qualifications:

• 2+ years industry experience in software development on embedded devices.
• Bachelor’s/master’s degree in EE / ECE / CSE
• Proficient in C/C++ with experience in development and deployment of applications on embedded platforms
• Adequate knowledge of hardware, read schematics and use lab equipment like scopes, logic analyzers and so on
• Good SW debugging skills. Able to identify software/hardware issues with minimal iterations
• Ability to multi-task, work independently, and take initiative to seek clarification and guidance when required
• Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions including controller design, software, applications, and field teams.
• Demonstrated good analytical and problem-solving skills, and a knack for automation of repeated tasks.
• Ability to take initiative and drive for results, persistence to overcome barriers

Additional Preferred Qualifications The ideal candidate also has one or more of the following qualifications:

• Experience in embedded RTOS platforms
• Experience of scripting using Python
• Well versed with software development tools like Git, static code analyzer tools.
• Quality conscious and able to develop and deploy unit, system and regression tests and automation test scripts.
• Experience in using Lab equipment like Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzers, Video generators
• Experience working on Image processing and other algorithms
• Experience in using AI in day-to-day SW development to improve productivity
• Experience in developing, implementing, and verifying products involving Functional Safety (ISO26262), HARA
• Experience in Automotive ASPICE SW Development, MISRA C, Dynamic Analysis, DFMEA

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop Embedded Software for DLP Controllers and associated peripherals including industrial and automotive products that may involve safety and security considerations.
• Work hand in hand with Controller, FPGA, Algorithms, tools, and applications team to define needs, influence system decisions and design the product to meet the needs.
• Follow processes defined to meet the project goals and improve on them.
