Job Description

About the Role:

Never Stop Exploring.

The North Face is the premier exploration company in the world. We spark curiosity. We dare to disrupt. We create communities. And we lead with integrity.

The North Face Stratford Westfield is an official partnership store, owned and operated by Ellis Brigham Mountain Sports — a British, family-owned brand that has been equipping explorers for nearly 100 years.

We are looking for an independent, proactive and hands-on Store Manager to lead our The North Face store. Working from the shop floor, you will inspire your team, deliver an outstanding customer experience and ensure the store achieves its commercial and operational objectives.

You will have overall responsibility for the smooth, safe and effective running of the store, including sales performance, team development, stock management and day-to-day operations. You will represent Ellis Brigham and The North Face in store and within the wider community, while bringing our mission, vision and values to life.

This is a great opportunity to develop your retail management skills in a busy London shopping centre with high footfall and a regular customer base.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, motivate, coach and develop the store team, setting a positive example on the shop floor
  • Plan staffing, delegate daily priorities and ensure appropriate shop-floor coverage
  • Manage recruitment, induction, performance, succession planning and employee development
  • Deliver The North Face customer-service standards and resolve customer queries, returns and complaints
  • Analyse key performance indicators and take action to maximise sales and improve performance
  • Maintain excellent retail and visual-merchandising standards, ensuring the store is safe, clean and welcoming
  • Oversee stock levels, deliveries, stock accuracy and collaboration with the buying team
  • Manage till procedures, banking, cashing up, opening and closing, rotas, shifts and holidays
  • Maintain health and safety standards and support the wellbeing of employees and customers
  • Work collaboratively across Ellis Brigham and represent the business professionally within the local community

Who You Are

  • Previous experience working in a customer-facing environment and as part of a team
  • Proven supervisory or leadership experience in customer service or retail
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to delegate, give constructive feedback and work with a range of stakeholders
  • A customer-focused, sales-driven approach with the ability to identify opportunities and improve performance
  • Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills, with the ability to motivate, develop and manage people
  • Excellent organisation, planning, scheduling, time-management and problem-solving skills
  • Basic literacy, numeracy and computer skills
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, honesty, integrity and a fair, inclusive approach
  • Commitment to Ellis Brigham’s mission, vision and values, with a willingness to learn and act on feedback
  • Ability to travel to the store and work during its opening hours
  • An interest in outdoor sports or activity is desirable but not essential

What’s in it for you?:

  • Generous staff discounts and pro-deals on The North Face and other top outdoor brands
  • Ongoing opportunities for development and progression within the Ellis Brigham family
  • Continuous training on our products, including On The Hill training days
  • Paid charity days
  • Referral programme
