Job Description
Job Title: Founding XR / Robotics Product Engineer
Company: OVAEL — OLO Workforce OS
Location: Remote / Hybrid
Employment Type: Full-Time, Contractor-to-Full-Time, or Founding Team Role
About OLO
OLO Workforce OS is building the human interface for the robot economy.
We are developing a spatial computing platform that allows people to train, work, and control robots remotely through a complete hardware and software bundle: OLO Vision , our VR headset; OLO Hand , our haptic gloves; OLO Body , our full-body motion suit; and OLO Workforce OS , the software layer connecting operators, robots, employers, training, certification, safety, and data.
Our mission is simple: make physical work possible from anywhere.
Robots are arriving before full autonomy is ready. OLO bridges that gap by allowing trained humans to supervise, guide, and control robots safely while every approved session creates valuable demonstration data for future autonomy.
The Role
We are looking for a Founding XR / Robotics Product Engineer to help build the first working OLO system from prototype to commercial bundle.
This person will work across VR hardware, haptic gloves, motion tracking, full-body suit integration, robot control, simulation, and the OLO Operator app. You do not need to know everything on day one, but you must be technical, fast-learning, product-minded, and excited to build a real company from the ground up.
Responsibilities
- Help design and prototype the OLO VR headset, haptic gloves, and full-body suit system
- Build or integrate motion tracking, hand tracking, body tracking, and haptic feedback systems
- Develop XR interfaces for robot control, training, simulation, and operator dashboards
- Connect the OLO hardware bundle to robotics simulation and real robot-control systems
- Work with Unity, OpenXR, ROS 2, WebRTC, sensors, controllers, and edge devices
- Help define product requirements, technical architecture, and safety logic
- Test headset, glove, and suit performance during training and robot-operation scenarios
- Work directly with the founder on product strategy, prototypes, investor demos, and launch planning
Ideal Background
- Experience with XR, VR, AR, robotics, wearables, motion capture, haptics, or embedded systems
- Strong engineering ability in software, hardware, robotics, or product prototyping
- Experience with Unity, Unreal, OpenXR, ROS, Python, C++, C#, sensors, microcontrollers, or real-time systems is a plus
- Comfortable working in an early-stage startup environment
- Able to move from concept to prototype quickly
- Strong problem-solving ability and product taste
- Interested in robotics, spatial computing, future of work, AI, and human-machine interfaces
What We Are Building
The first OLO bundle will include:
- OLO Vision — VR headset
- OLO Hand — haptic gloves
- OLO Body — full-body motion suit
- OLO Workforce OS — app, training, control, identity, certification, subscription, and data layer
The first use cases include industrial inspection, facility patrol, remote observation, robot training, and supervised robotic labor.
Why Join
This is an opportunity to help build a new category: a complete human-to-robot work platform.
You will be joining at the earliest stage, where your engineering work can directly shape the company, product, technology, and long-term roadmap.
Compensation
Compensation structure is flexible depending on experience and role fit. Options may include cash compensation, contract compensation, milestone-based pay, and/or equity for the right founding-level contributor.
How to Apply
Send your resume, portfolio, GitHub, project examples, or a short message explaining why you want to help build OLO.
We are especially interested in people who have built real prototypes, robotics systems, VR applications, wearable devices, haptic systems, or advanced technical products.
