Technical Writer (Writing/SDLC/Agile/Scrum/Jira)

Russell Tobin is partnering with a leading organization to identify a Technical Writer to develop, edit, and maintain high-quality technical documentation for software and data solutions supporting mobile applications. This role focuses on software documentation, quality management system compliance, and improving documentation standards across technical teams.

Responsibilities

· Collaborate with technical implementation teams to understand documentation requirements for software, data solutions, and mobile applications.

· Create and edit technical documentation covering software architecture, system design, product requirements, and technical specifications.

· Prepare and submit documentation required for compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS).

· Develop and improve technical writing processes, procedures, style guidelines, and documentation standards.

· Identify opportunities to improve the documentation lifecycle and support efficient delivery of high-quality content.

· Adapt technical and procedural documentation to different audiences by translating complex concepts into clear, understandable content.

· Conduct document reviews, gather stakeholder feedback, and ensure technical accuracy and consistency.

· Create technical illustrations, including data flow diagrams, component diagrams, and system architecture diagrams.

· Support documentation and change management processes within electronic Quality Management Systems (eQMS).

· Manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and deadlines.

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.

· 5+ years of experience producing, editing, and proofreading technical software documentation.

· Strong ability to understand complex technical concepts and communicate them clearly through written documentation and illustrations.

· Excellent English writing, reading, and listening skills.

· High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

· Experience with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.

· Proficiency with Adobe tools such as Acrobat, FrameMaker, and Illustrator.

· Experience with eQMS platforms, particularly documentation and change management processes.

· Strong organizational, time-management, prioritization, and attention-to-detail skills.

· Experience in medical devices, drug discovery, or pharmaceutical environments is preferred.

· Familiarity with tools and technologies such as Jira, Confluence, Markdown, HTML, XML, VS Code, Eclipse, Agile PLM, Oracle Cloud PLM, IBM Rational DOORS, Jama Software, GitHub, or GitLab is an advantage.

· Ability to collaborate effectively, manage competing priorities, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Details:

• Location model: 100% Remote
• Schedule: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM PST
• Position Type: 18-month contract with the possibility of extension
• Pay range approved: $41–$42/hr
