CTS International is seeking experienced Mechanical Designers to support a leading transformer manufacturer that is expanding its mechanical design capacity.

This is a hands-on engineering design role focused on turning 3D models into production-ready manufacturing drawings and creating accurate 3D models from existing 2D drawings for real production hardware, including transformer tanks, enclosures, core-coil frame assemblies, and sheet-metal components.

Position Overview

Pay: $55–$70/Hour , depending on experience

Work Arrangement: Remote – U.S.

Duration: 6 Months | Possible Extension | Possible FTE Opportunity

Travel: Initial onboarding in Pine Bluff, Arkansas , followed by approximately one trip every six weeks

What You’ll Be Doing

• Convert 3D CAD models into complete, dimensioned manufacturing drawing packages

• Create accurate 3D models from existing 2D engineering drawings

• Design sheet-metal and welded assemblies , including:

• Transformer tanks

• Enclosures

• Brackets

• Covers

• Mounting details

• Core-coil frame assemblies

• Apply GD&T and tolerance stack-up principles to ensure drawings are ready for fabrication

• Develop detailed manufacturing and fabrication drawings

• Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) alongside models and drawing packages

• Work within established client engineering standards and drawing conventions

• Collaborate remotely with the client’s in-house mechanical design team

• Produce designs and drawings that can move efficiently from engineering to the shop floor CTS International

What We’re Looking For

• Demonstrated mechanical design experience with power transformers, distribution transformers, or comparable heavy electromechanical equipment

• Strong proficiency with Solid Edge

OR

• Advanced experience with another parametric CAD platform such as:

• SolidWorks

• Autodesk Inventor

• Creo

with the ability to quickly become productive in Solid Edge

• Strong sheet-metal and weldment design experience

• Experience developing flat patterns through final fabrication drawings

• Strong understanding of GD&T and manufacturing tolerances

• Experience producing engineering drawings that have successfully moved into manufacturing

• Ability to work independently in a distributed remote engineering environment

• Ability to travel periodically to Pine Bluff, Arkansas CTS International

Preferred Experience

Experience or familiarity with:

• IEEE, ANSI, ASTM, or CSA standards related to transformer design

• Transformer thermal and cooling design

• Short-circuit force considerations

• Heavy electrical or electromechanical equipment

• Adapting quickly to new company engineering and drawing standards CTS International

• Corp-to-Corp (C2C)
