Python Code Reviewer - Security/AI (Part Time)

We are looking for a senior Python engineer with application security experience to do an independent review of the AEGIS codebase. This is a part time position that could lead into a full-time position with benefits.

What AEGIS is:

AEGIS is Wider Security’s runtime containment and supervision platform for AI agents. It sits between an AI agent and the systems the agent can act on, and enforces fixed rules on what is allowed to run. It is built for on-premises and air-gapped environments, and it is a pre-release product.Languages and technology

• Python 3.12 is the primary language (FastAPI and Starlette for the web services)
• Docker and Docker Compose, with each service in its own container on separate Docker networks
• Redis Streams for messaging between services
• PostgreSQL and SQLite
• HTML, CSS and JavaScript for the web dashboards, Bash for deployment scripts, YAML for policy and configuration
• LLM integration with locally served models (OpenAI-compatible endpoints, Ollama, vLLM) and a hosted API backend
• pytest, with about 800 automated tests

Required

• Senior-level Python, including reviewing code they did not write
• Secure code review or application security experience: input validation, injection, file path handling, authorization, message signing, audit logging
• Docker and Linux, including container networking
• Experience with distributed or message-queue based systems

Preferred

• Security of AI agents and LLM applications: prompt injection, tool calling, Model Context Protocol (MCP), OWASP Top 10 for LLM and Agentic Applications
• DoD or other regulated environments (RMF, STIG, NIST 800-53)

Pay: $80.00 - $140.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1.0 – 10.0 per week
