Backend Developer - Web & Infrastructure

Chaac Technologies is seeking a Backend Developer with strong software engineering skills and an interest in building reliable, scalable backend systems. The ideal candidate has deployed production grade systems at scale with multidisciplinary teams. DevOps and machine learning experience are considered important assets. Candidates should have experience with systems involving data pipelines, model integration, automation, geospatial data, computer vision, or operational software platforms.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend APIs, services, and databases.
• Build reliable backend workflows and distributed data processing pipelines.
• Structure backend systems for scalability, maintainability, and performance.
• Support deployment and maintenance of backend applications.
• Collaborate with frontend, ML, and engineering teams.

Core Technical Skills

• Expert level Python
• Strong Elixir
• Docker & Kubernetes
• Experience managing large datasets
• ETL processing
• Cloud and Hybrid infrastructure

Background

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience (10+ years) deploying production grade systems at scale.

Nice to Have

• Experience with geospatial data, GIS, imagery, video processing, or mapping systems.
• Experience with edge computing or offline/air-gapped deployment environments.\
• Familiarity with real-time systems, event-driven architecture, or message queues.
• Experience working on defence, public safety, inspection, robotics, or simulation-related projects

This role is for you if:

• You’ve built backend systems that had to run reliably in production, not just in development.
• You care about scalability, reliability, maintainability, and security, not just getting a feature to work once.
• You’re comfortable owning backend features from design to deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
• You have experience working with large datasets, distributed pipelines, ETL processes, or operational data platforms.
• You enjoy working with multidisciplinary teams across frontend, ML, DevOps, GIS, engineering, and product.
• You can work close to real-world constraints, including infrastructure limits, edge deployment, security requirements, and operational environments.

This role is not for you if:

• You only want to write isolated backend features without multi-domain responsibility.
• You are uncomfortable working with messy data, changing requirements, or multidisciplinary technical problems.
• You need a heavily guided role with clearly defined tasks at every step.
• You are looking for a junior backend position rather than a senior role with architectural ownership.
