Software Engineer

If you write software for a living, there is likely a place for you here. Front end, back end, full stack, data, cloud and mobile developers all fit, from engineers a few years in to senior leads. Experience at a startup, a large company, a consulting firm, a government IT shop, a university or the service all counts.

Your work

• Fixing bugs and adding features to web applications
• Building APIs, back end services and integrations
• Designing and querying databases
• Writing data processing jobs, charts and dashboards
• Deploying to the cloud and keeping releases steady
• Shaping architecture and reviewing code for the team

You should have

• A few years of professional software development in any language
• A degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Status as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident

Good to have, not required

• JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Python, Java or C#
• PostgreSQL, Docker, AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
• Work on health, transportation, justice or other public sector software
• Accessibility or Section 508 experience

Rate and hours

The rate is $65 to $105 per hour on a 1099 contract, set by experience. The role is part-time at about 10 to 20 hours a week and fully remote within the U.S.

Precision Federal builds AI, data and software systems for government agencies, with contracts won from DOJ, DOT, the CDC and a town in Arizona.
