Job Description
About Hansford Bell
Hansford Bell is a fast-growing, independent, Chartered Financial Planning firm based in Tavistock, Devon.
Lifestyle Financial Planning is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that financial planning should be about much more than investments and pensions. We help our clients plan their lives and their money, in that order, building financial plans around the lives they want to live.
We’re an ambitious and forward-thinking business, committed to delivering exceptional financial planning while creating a supportive, enjoyable and rewarding environment for our team.
As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Financial Planning Assistant to join us and play an important role in supporting our clients and financial planners.
About the Role
This is much more than a traditional administration position.
As a Financial Planning Assistant, you’ll be a key point of contact for our clients, helping to build lasting relationships and ensuring they receive the high level of personal service we’re known for.
You’ll work closely with our financial planners, supporting them throughout the financial planning process and helping ensure that our clients feel informed, valued and looked after.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in delivering excellent service and wants to be part of a growing business where their contribution really matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted and approachable point of contact.
- Support financial planners with the ongoing management of client relationships and financial plans.
- Coordinate client review meetings, including preparation, documentation and follow-up actions.
- Guide new clients through our onboarding process, ensuring a smooth and professional experience.
- Process investment, pension and other financial product transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Liaise with investment platforms, product providers and other third parties to obtain information and progress client requests.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records within our digital systems.
- Monitor outstanding tasks and ensure client requests are handled promptly.
- Work collaboratively with financial planners, paraplanners and the wider administration team to deliver a consistently excellent client experience.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and contribute to the continued development of the business.
How We Work
We’re committed to using modern technology to improve the way financial planning is delivered.
We operate a centralised investment proposition, supported by a fully digital, AI-assisted operating system designed to simplify processes, reduce unnecessary administration and improve efficiency.
Our aim is to spend less time on repetitive tasks and more time doing what really matters: building relationships, supporting our financial planners and delivering an outstanding experience for our clients.
You’ll be joining a business that embraces new ideas, encourages collaboration and is continually looking for better ways of working.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is organised, proactive and genuinely enjoys helping people.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- Previous experience in a financial planning or financial services administration role.
- A good understanding of pensions, investments and financial planning processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to build relationships with clients.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Confidence using technology and an enthusiasm for learning new systems.
- A positive, flexible attitude and a willingness to support colleagues.
- A genuine commitment to delivering excellent client service.
Previous experience in financial planning administration would be advantageous, but we’re equally interested in finding someone with the right attitude, transferable skills and a willingness to learn.
Salary and Benefits
We believe that looking after our team is just as important as looking after our clients.
Our benefits package includes:
- Competitive salary: £28,000–£32,000 per annum, depending on experience.
- Four-day working week: Monday to Thursday, 9am–5pm, with one Friday in six providing telephone cover.
- Annual leave: Five weeks’ holiday p…
