UX Designer (Platform Engineering)

Background

The Platform Engineering area is unifying the development experience for 800+ engineers across different domains. The current landscape is fragmented, with numerous internal portals, no shared design language, inconsistent interaction patterns, and no unified vision for how platform products should look and feel.

A small, embedded UX team is being established to bring design rigour to this transformation. The UX Designer will work alongside the Design Lead and Service Designer to translate research insights into tangible design solutions and create coherence across the platform product portfolio.

Assignment Scope

• Translate insights and user research into design concepts and experience visions for platform products (developer portals, onboarding flows, service catalogues, dashboards)
• Establish shared design patterns across fragmented platform products
• Design AI agent interaction patterns and future-state experiences
• Create prototypes to validate concepts with engineers
• Support stakeholder alignment through compelling visual artefacts that make the future tangible
• Work in fast iteration cycles with the Service Designer and product teams

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Review research findings and journey maps from the Service Designer to identify design opportunities
• Create design concepts and prototypes for platform experiences (portals, onboarding, dashboards, service catalogues)
• Define and document reusable UI patterns and design system components for internal tools
• Conduct usability testing and design validation sessions with engineers
• Design AI agent interaction patterns and emerging technology experiences
• Create experience vision artefacts (storyboards, flows, prototypes) for leadership alignment
• Collaborate daily with the Service Designer and Design Lead on priorities and direction
• Present design rationale and concepts to Senior Product Owners and engineering leads
• Iterate designs based on user feedback in fast, pragmatic cycles

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in UX/Product Design with demonstrable end-to-end design work
• Strong interaction and visual design skills from sketch to high-fidelity prototype
• Experience designing complex, data-rich interfaces (dashboards, admin tools, developer-facing products)
• Systems thinking and ability to create coherent experiences across multiple products
• Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams with engineers and product owners
• Experience designing developer tools, internal platforms, or B2B/enterprise products is a strong plus
• Familiarity with design systems (building or contributing to them)
• Tools: Figma, Miro, Design with AI
• Self-driven and proactive
• Pragmatic in choosing the right fidelity level for each design stage
• Collaborative approach with research and product teams
• Fluent English
