Assistant Building Services Manager – High-End Commercial Projects

Location: London

Salary/Package: £45 - 55k + excellent benefits package

The Company We are currently representing one of the capital’s leading premium main contractors, renowned for delivering exceptionally high-quality commercial fit-out, refurbishment, and cut-and-carve projects. Due to a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to add an Assistant Building Services Manager to their established M&E team.

The Role This is a highly delivery-focused role. Working closely with a Senior Building Services Manager, you will be heavily involved in the day-to-day management and coordination of MEP installations on site. This position is not about sitting behind a desk; it is about driving the project forward, managing specialist sub-contractors, and ensuring that complex M&E packages are delivered on time, safely, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in driving the delivery of mechanical and electrical packages from initial site setup through to commissioning and handover.
• Coordinate day-to-day site activities, ensuring M&E sub-contractors adhere to the project programme and strict quality standards.
• Work collaboratively with the wider site management and construction teams to resolve spatial coordination issues and prevent clashes.
• Assist with the management of QA/QC processes, snagging, and defect resolution.
• Play an active role in the commissioning process, ensuring all building services systems operate exactly as designed prior to client handover.
• Attend and contribute to progress meetings, providing accurate updates on M&E delivery milestones.
• Ensure rigorous health and safety standards are maintained across all building services operations on site.

About You:

• You will have a strong foundation in building services, either from a trade background (Electrical or Mechanical) or holding a relevant degree/HNC in Building Services Engineering.
• Proven track record working in an Assistant M&E Manager or M&E Site Management capacity, ideally for a main contractor or a recognized MEP sub-contractor.
• A proactive, delivery-oriented mindset with the ability to solve problems quickly on site.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage sub-contractors effectively and build relationships with the wider project team.
• Experience working on commercial fit-out or refurbishment projects is highly advantageous.
