Azure AD B2C / CIAM Engineer - 100% REMOTE

Title: Azure AD B2C / Microsoft Entra External ID Systems Engineer Location: 100% Remote Nationwide (MN candidates are a plus) Duration: Initial 6-month contract, with potential for significant extension Project Overview Client currently uses Azure AD B2C to support customer-facing authentication, ecommerce login, and loyalty registration. They rely on an external vendor to maintain this environment but are looking for a more cost-effective resource who can assume hands-on responsibility for the platform.

The immediate priority is maintaining and enhancing the existing Azure B2C environment, including troubleshooting authentication issues, modifying user flows and custom policies, and supporting application/API integrations.

Longer term, Client is considering a migration to Microsoft Entra External ID. Ideally, this resource would have the technical background to support both the current environment and the future migration.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, configure, and troubleshoot the existing Azure AD B2C environment.
• Design, build, and modify authentication user flows and custom policies.
• Support customer login, registration, loyalty, and ecommerce authentication.
• Develop and troubleshoot APIs and integrations with enterprise applications and customer data systems.
• Support upcoming customer identity integration changes, including a transition from Salesforce to ECRS.
• Implement new authentication functionality and troubleshoot production issues.
• Evaluate and potentially support a future migration to Microsoft Entra External ID.
• Document the environment and help reduce dependency on the existing vendor.

Must-Have Experience

• Strong, direct, hands-on Azure AD B2C engineering experience.
• Ability to independently design, build, configure, and troubleshoot user flows and custom policies.
• Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) experience.
• Experience with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, tokens, claims, and authentication protocols.
• Hands-on experience with APIs, application integrations, and identity-related troubleshooting.
• Strong technical problem-solving skills and the ability to independently support a production environment.

Nice-to-Haves

• Microsoft Entra External ID experience, particularly migration planning or execution.
• Retail, ecommerce, loyalty, or customer-facing application experience.
• Salesforce, ECRS, or customer database integrations.
• Experience with other CIAM platforms such as Okta, Ping Identity, or Keycloak.
